Challenges

These are the books I read for various challenges, but I have not written or posted all the reviews yet, so they won’t all show up on my 2023 Challenges tracking page. All title links go to my reviews.

Goodreads Challenge 2023: 14 books read in February (titles listed above.) 29 books read this year so far, toward my year-end goal of 175 books. I am 5 books ahead of schedule.

#23in2023: 0 books read in February. 1 review posted from a book read in January (Well Met.) For the year, 4 books read and 1 book reviewed so far, toward my year-end goal of 23 books.

The Backlist Reader Challenge 2023: 1 book read but not reviewed in February (Murder at Half Moon Gate.) 4 books read and 1 book reviewed so far this year, toward my year-end goal of reading and reviewing 16 books.

NOTE: Hounded and The Return of the King are technically rereads, even though it’s the first time I have listened to either one. And How to Keep House While Drowning didn’t make it onto my TBR lists until this year, so it doesn’t count toward the challenge.

Audiobook Challenge 2023: 1 book listened to in February (Hounded; review scheduled for March.) 2 books listened to and 1 reviewed this year so far, toward my year-end goal of 6 books listened to and reviewed. NOTE: add The Return of the King to the counts if finished in time.

Library Love 2023: 1 books read and reviewed in February (How to Keep House While Drowning.) 1 book read and reviewed so far this year, toward my year-end goal of 12 books.

NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge 2023: 4 books read in February, but not yet reviewed (Of Manners and Murder; The Bride Wore White; Artfully Yours; Three Can Keep a Secret.) 1 review posted for a book read in January (Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries.) For the year, 7 books read and 3 books reviewed so far, toward my year-end goal of reading and reviewing 15 books. Current NetGalley percentage: 53%.

Read Christie 2023: 1 books read in February (Partners in Crime.) 2 books read (but not reviewed) this year so far, toward my year-end goal of 12 books.

COYER Upside Down Chapter 1: 14 books read in February, and 1 February book reviewed (How to Keep House While Drowning.) Reviews are scheduled for 2 more February books (Hounded and Partners in Crime.) 2 reviews posted for books read in January (Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries; Well Met.) For the challenge, 29 books read and 7 books reviewed since Jan. 1, toward my 4-month challenge goal of reading and reviewing 10 books. (All books read this month count toward the challenge.)

Assessment

I fell down on writing reviews this month. I binge-reread a number of Celia Lake’s Albion books; I thoroughly enjoyed them, but they did not count toward any of my challenges except Goodreads and COYER. On the other hand, there’s a fair amount of diversity of various categories among the main and important secondary characters of the Albion books, so that certainly counts toward my general desire to read more diversely.

NOTE: I supported the HarperCollins union in their strike. Now that the parties have ratified an agreement, I am once again posting HarperCollins titles, and have updated January’s wrap-up post to include them.

Even if you’re a bit behind on some of your goals it looks like you’re doing great! I have the Amanda Quick book coming up and am really looking forward to it. I also have How to Keep House While Drowning on my library list and it is one I think I’ll get a lot out of. Happy March!
