Challenges
These are the books I read for various challenges, but I have not written or posted all the reviews yet, so they won’t all show up on my 2022 Challenges tracking page. All title links go to my reviews.
Goodreads Challenge 2023: 14 books read in January, toward my year-end goal of 175 books. (Titles listed above.)
#23in2023: 4 books read in January, toward my year-end goal of 23 books. (Well Met, The Choice, Spinning Silver, Murder on Black Swan Lane)
The Backlist Reader Challenge 2023: 3 books read in January, and one review scheduled, toward my year-end goal of reading and reviewing 16 books. (Well Met, Spinning Silver, Murder on Black Swan Lane)
NOTE: I didn’t have A New Kind of Country on my TBR list, and the audiobook, the Agatha Christie, and The Awakening were rereads, so none of those qualify even though they are all technically backlist titles.
Audiobook Challenge 2023: 1 audiobook listened to in January, toward my year-end goal of 6 books listened to and reviewed. (The Two Towers)
Library Love 2023: 0 books read in January; my year-end goal is 12 books.
NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge 2023: 3 books read, 2 books reviewed in January, toward my year-end goal of reading and reviewing 15 books. Current NetGalley percentage: 54%. Reviewed: Sleep No More, and The Backup Plan. Review scheduled: Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries).
Read Christie 2023: 1 book read in January, toward my year-end goal of 12 books. (Sad Cypress)
COYER Upside Down Chapter 1: 14 books read and 4 books reviewed in January, toward my 4-month challenge goal of reading and reviewing 10 books. (All books read this month count toward the challenge.)
All in all, a good start to the year!
I’m pretty pleased. I’m off to a good start in terms of reading, and I wrote as many reviews in January as I did in the four previous months combined. (More, if you count my review of the BBC adaptation of The Dark is Rising. I didn’t count it as a “book” because it’s a dramatic adaption.)
NOTE: I support the HarperCollins union. I am encouraged that HC has agreed to mediation, and hope that the parties can reach agreement on a fair and equitable contract soon. However, in the absence of an agreement, I am continuing to honor the union’s request to refrain from publicizing HC titles for now. Edited to add: Now that the parties have ratified an agreement, I am once again posting HC titles, and have updated this post to show the previously-redacted titles.
