Literary Losses
Robert M. Pirsig, author of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, died April 24, 2017, at the age of 88. The book, published in 1974, blends popular philosophy with “novelistic autobiography,” being based on a road trip the author took in the 1960s with his son. The book was hugely popular in the 1970s and is still in print.
