The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
Life: My relative continues to improve overall. Still tired and sore, and needing assistance with a few specific tasks, but the healing is progressing well and they able to do more and more on their own. I’m enjoying spending time with Robin and others in the family; Robin and I have had several tea-and-board-game afternoons at my sister’s house, and the extended family has gathered for dinner several times.
I finished up a freelance work project and turned it in Monday night, so I’m now free to concentrate on trying to catch up on the blog and everything else I didn’t do over the last month. I started knitting a chemo cap for the friend I mentioned a week or two ago. And I’m trying to get back into the habit of writing. It’s also time to start planning and buying Christmas gifts. I can’t do much to prepare for Halloween until I get home, though.
Challenge update: I beat my Goodreads goal early this year! I set the goal at 125 books instead of 150 book as in some previous years, because I wanted to spend more time writing. Unfortunately, I fell away from writing this summer, when we were in the throes of house renovations, but I’m trying to get back to it. As for that Goodreads goal, I’m not sure if I want to increase it at this point, or just enjoy going well over my goal. At any rate, I’ll probably keep the goal at 125 for next year, or maybe 130, so as to leave plenty of time for writing. Also, a lot of the books I have read this year were rereads, which I tend to read faster than first-time books; if I read more new-to-me books next year, I may take longer to reach my goal.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching (since 7/14/2024)
Reading: I reread The Fairy Godmother by Mercedes Lackey (reviewed in 2015), and followed it up with Fortune’s Fool and The Sleeping Beauty (which I’m still reading); they are books 1, 3, and 5 in the Tales of the 500 Kingdoms series. (Reviews of Fortune’s Fool and The Sleeping Beauty are scheduled.)
Watching: Robin and I have been watching the Percy Jackson series on Disney+, and the whole family watched the vice-presidential debate on Tuesday, and the Barbie movie on Saturday.
Playing: A little bit of Pokemon Go, and my usual NYT word games: Wordle, Connections, Strands, and the Spelling Bee. We also played several games of Wingspan and Azul over at my sister’s house.

Kindle: There was a huge Kindle sale early this week! Wow. You certainly did add to your Kindle books last week! Enjoy those.
Congratulations on hitting your Goodreads goal! I hoped to do a lot of writing this year…I need to recharge my batteries and set to writing, I think.

That’s a huge number of books you have waiting for you!
Amazing.

It’s a lot, yes, but I have already read over half of them (as paperbacks.) I bought the Kindlebooks to duplicate or in most cases replace my paperbacks, because my aging eyes are having a harder time reading small print these days.

I am glad healing is going well! And annoyed I missed the Kindle sale.

It’s great things are going well with finishing your project and getting lots of family time. There are big benefits to a portable job. I alternate between buying favorite books digital to not buying anything I can get at the library. However the library selections seem to change a lot from time to time.

Ooh, good work on beating your reading goal! I’m way behind on mine, but it was ambitious, so I’m trying not to mind if I fail. XD

I did set my goal 25 books lower than last year, so it’s not quite the achievement it sounds. I’m sure you’ll get there! Have a great week!

I’m glad I didn’t hear about that kindle sale. That’s really for the best 🙂
