The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: I spent a quiet week focusing on work, unpacking, and housework. And reading, which I had been feeling a bit starved for over the past few weeks. Yesterday, we did some more rearranging and decluttering. I’ll be dragging a bit today because of the time shift. I have three medical appointments this coming week, all checkups.
5 Good Things:
- The crocuses are blooming in my front yard! Spring can’t be far off now.
- After my successful cardiac ablation last fall, and at my cardiologist’s urging, I have weaned off the beta blocker entirely.
- We were finally able to reach the painters to schedule the completion of the bathroom and front door (in a few weeks.)
- We decluttered 8 plastic patio chairs (remember those white plastic chairs from the 80s or 90s?) and two tables that went with them. The new deck really deserves new furniture! (Or at least some that won’t blow away in a high wind.)
- This afternoon, we’re having a family Zoom gathering for my husband’s side of the family.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I’ve been reading, or rather rereading, a lot this week. I finished rereading Dance Upon the Air, and completed the trilogy by rereading Heaven and Earth and Face the Fire. Then I reread the Inn Boonsboro trilogy—The Next Always, The Last Boyfriend, and The Perfect Hope, also by Nora Roberts—before starting A Pirate’s Life for Tea (Rebecca Thorne.) And because I have no self-discipline, I also started Hidden Nature as soon as I got the eARC. Being fickle (and needing something less exciting to read before bed), I picked up Agatha Christie’s The Moving Finger as well. So I’m currently actively reading or rereading three books and listening to a fourth.
Listening to: I finished Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent (Dame Judi Dench). It’s excellent; I highly recommend it. (My review will post this week.) After that, I decided to start one of Robin’s recommendations next: The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale (from Full Cast Audio.) We own an MP3 copy, but I couldn’t get iTunes to load it into its library from the folder it was in. When I tried, iTunes could only find disks 1 and 6, even though I can see the others are in there. So I gave up and borrowed the audiobook from the library via Hoopla.
I also listened to episode #640 of Smart Podcast Trashy Books from last fall, interviewing Lucy Jane Wood, author of Rewitched.
Watching: Star Trek: The Next Generation, season 2; and two 1980s BBC adaptations of Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple novels, starring Joan Hickson: The Moving Finger and Sleeping Murder. The BBC Miss Marple adaptations starring Hickson are my number one go-to for comfort watching. They’re like a hot cup of tea and a fleecy blanket, except for a very occasional flash of violence. Oh, and we also started the new Ken Burns documentary on Leonardo da Vinci.
Playing: In odd moments when I have time: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT.) Wingspan. And Pokemon Go, very occasionally.

It sounds like you had a very productive week! I’m so happy to hear that the procedure for your heart was successful! One of these days I will get caught up with Nora Roberts’s back list One day. I hope you have a great week!

Nora has a big backlist! I hope you have fun exploring it. And thank you; I’m glad it was successful, too!

Happy to hear your ablation went well! Were you in a-fib? If so, you must feel better being in a normal rhythm now.
I saw your crocuses on Instagram and they’re beautiful! The bulbs are a nice preview for spring! You’re on a Nora Roberts binge. I love her books, too. I also have Hidden Nature and I’m looking forward to it! I listened to Dance Upon the Air years ago and meant to continue with the series and got sidetracked. I bought the rest of the series on a Chirp deal so I have no excuse not to finish. Must make time to do so! Agatha Christie books are always a comfort read for me. I just finished listening to two short stories featuring Hercule Poirot this last week. So fun!
Have a lovely week, Lark!

Hi, Rachel! Actually, I had PSVT (paroxysmal superventricular tachycardia.) I was on a beta blocker for the last 25 years to prevent it, and it worked… most of the time. But I occasionally had breakthrough episodes, where my heart rate would jump from normal to 180-200 beats per minute; it rarely returned to normal without medical intervention. These episodes had increased in frequency from about one every five years, to about one per year. So we decided to go ahead with the ablation. It’s great knowing I don’t have to worry about having those episodes anymore!

I’m so pleased! It’s one less thing to worry about if the zombie apocalypse occurs… or if tariffs or another pandemic disrupt supply chains.
