March 12, 2017 Sunday Post 18

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures — I mean books!

My Week

I spent most of the week working on one thing or another: indexing, music, the blog… I did get out to the local knitting/crochet group on Tuesday afternoon, and I had choir rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday nights. But other than that, the week was pretty uneventful — if you don’t count the wacky weather. Cold, warm, cold: Mother Nature can’t seem to make up her mind! I got out for a walk a couple of days, but not as many as I should.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished In Farleigh Field (Rhys Bowen, ARC; review) and went on to read Red Clover Inn (Carla Neggers, ARC), Elementary, She Read (Vicki Delany, ARC), and The Lady By His Side (Stephanie Laurens.)  I started Jewels of the Sun (Nora Roberts; my TBR shelves, too. I vow to get back to Ghost Talkers (Mary Robinette Kowal) sometime this week, and The Crooked Sixpence (Jennifer Bell, ARC) after that.

Listening to: Podcasts, mostly 99% Invisible, The Allusionist, Writing Excusesand Imaginary Worlds. And I made good progress with Bill Bryson’s Made in America.

Watching: We finished the last two episodes of The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes starring Jeremy Brett, and started the John Adams miniseries from HBO (on DVD.)

For Review or Review Consideration

Thank you to Midnight Ink, Avon, and Crooked Lane Books!

Purchased in Print

I’ve read several good reviews of The Bone Witch, and it also fits my goal of reading more diverse authors. The hold list at the library was pretty long, so when I realized I could preorder a hardcover for $11, I went ahead. Anyway, who could resist that gorgeous cover?

Purchased for Kindle

Have a wonderful week, and happy reading!

We’re already in the middle of one of the cold swings. It was 27 F when I got up this morning. Brrr! But they’ve revised the snow potential for Tuesday down to less than an inch (from 3-5 inches.) That’s a relief!

Well, I’m not an expert knitter, but I do enjoy it. I don’t knit as much these days as I did before I started blogging, and I miss it.

The few reviews I’ve seen so far have been favorable. I hope it’s good, because it’s an interesting premise as well as a gorgeous cover. Have fun on your book-buying spree!

Thank you! I’m enjoying the series and looking forward to some of the ARCs I need to read this week. Have a wonderful week and I hope you aren’t getting pummeled by the winter storm!

The weather is all over the place. It was cold and wet this morning when I left, so I was in longsleeves. When I got to where I was going this afternoon, it was sunny and warm! Happy reading!

We woke up to an icy, slushy mess today (Tuesday.) Now it’s just cold and raining. I don’t think I’m going for a walk today!

I love the cover of A Date With Death. I am going to be buying The Bone Witch in hardcover, too. I am still looking out for your thoughts on the Uncommeners. I hope you had a wonderful week. I am a tad late making my rounds this week. 🙂

Not to worry; there are weeks I don’t have time to make the rounds at all, even though I want to! I still need to finish the Uncommoners book.
