Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The meme was originally the brainchild of The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic was Books I’d Give Different Titles To, but I decided to do a different prompt instead.
Today’s prompt didn’t work for me, so I decided to use a different prompt I had seen elsewhere: books with “Secret” in the title. All of these are books I have read and enjoyed; most are books I have read more than once. Rather than try to rank them, I’ve simply listed them in alphabetical order by author. (Click title to view on Goodreads, or to read my review.)
- A Secret Affair by Mary Balogh
- The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
- The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie
- The Secret of Chimneys by Agatha Christie
- The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene
- Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas
- Secret Sisters by Jayne Ann Krentz — reviewed
- A Secret Love by Stephanie Laurens
- Heart Secret by Robin D. Owens
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
And a few extras as a bonus! The first two I have read and liked; the rest are from my TBR list.
- The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy by Julia Quinn — reviewed
- Callahan’s Secret by Spider Robinson — mentioned in review of the author’s works
- Congress of Secrets by Stephanie Burgis (TBR)
- River Secrets by Shannon Hale (TBR)
- Cybele’s Secret by Juliet Marillier (TBR)
Do you have any “Secret” favorites I should add to my TBR? Please share them in the comments!

The Secret Garden was such a good story, too.

Secret is definitely a popular title word! I tend to like books with the word secret in the title — and lies. That’s another good title words.

The first title that popped into my head was The Secret Garden. I remember loving it as a kid, and the movie was good too

When I saw the title of your post, I immediately thought of The Secret of the Old Clock! I loved those books when I was a kid.

What a great twist! I just finished The Secret History, so that springs to mind for me. 🙂

Great list of books – I’ve read three of them:). I’m intrigued by The Secret Adversary as I don’t think I’ve read that one and I have read a lot of Christie’s books.

It’s the first Tommy and Tuppence novel &mdash as much spy thriller as murder mystery. It’s one of my favorite Christie novels. The TV adaptation starring James Warwick and Francesca Annis is really good.

What a fun list of titles! I love the Nancy Drew and the Agatha Christie. 🙂
