Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The meme was originally the brainchild of The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is BLAH BLAH.
I broke my list into two parts: forthcoming books and books that have already been published. So here are my top twenty books on my TBR list. Although to be honest, there are some even older books that might push some of these aside.
Forthcoming (by release date)

These are a mixture of forthcoming books I really want to read, and ARCs I feel obligated to read (though in most cases I also want to read them.) Since the list includes ARCs, it does include two books that won’t be out until after summer officially begins. ETA: And since I received an ARC of Hidden Nature between writing this post and publishing it, I have added another book to this list, A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping; I literally received the ARC today.
- The Martian Contingency by Mary Robinette Kowal (3/18/2025) – preordered, and I just got the ARC a few days ago!
- The Library Game by Gigi Pandian (3/18/2025) – library (hold requested)
- Murder By Memory by Olivia Waite (3/18/2025) – ARC
- The Lady Sparks a Flame by Elizabeth Everett (3/25/205) – ARC
- Grown Wise by Celia Lake (5/02/2025) – preordered
- Rules for Ruin by Mimi Matthews (5/20/2025) – ARC
- Behooved by M. Stevenson (5/20/2025) – ARC requested
- Hidden Nature by Nora Roberts (5/27/2025) –
library (hold requested)– ARC received last week; already read - Look Before You Leap by Virginia Heath (6/24/2024) – ARC
- The Blonde Who Came In From the Cold by Ally Carter (7/09/2025) – ARC
- A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna (7/15/2025) – ARC
Already released (alpha by author)

These are books that came out in recent months or years that I really want to read (or feel I should.)
- To Shape a Dragon’s Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose – own
- The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter – library (hold requested)
- Three Tasks for a Dragon by Eoin Colfer, illus. by P. J. Lynch – own
- Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett – own
- The Song of Orphan’s Garden by Nicole M. Hewitt – own
- The King’s Messenger by Susanna Kearsley – own
- Swordheart by T. Kingfisher – ARC
- The Phoenix Keeper by S. A. Maclean – own
- Vanya and the Wild Hunt by Sangu Mandanna – ARC
- The River Has Roots (Amal el Mohtar) – library (hold requested)
2024–2025 Winter TBR Wrap-Up
So how did I do with the books on my 2024–2025 Winter TBR List? That list was mostly ARCS.
Read
- The Mirror by Nora Roberts
- A Death in Diamonds by S. J. Bennett – ARC
- Wooing the Witch Queen by Stephanie Burgis – ARC (reviewed)
Did not read yet
- The Author’s Guide to Murder by Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig, & Karen White – ARC
- The Secret of the Three Fates by Jess Armstrong – ARC
- Miss Amelia’s List by Mercedes Lackey — DNF (because it had to go back to the library before I finished it. Also, it wasn’t great. I might try again later, but it’s no longer high priority.)
- A Language of Dragons by S. F. Williamson – ARC
- The Song of Orphan’s Garden by Nicole M. Hewitt – on Spring TBR list
- Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett – on Spring TBR list
- Swordheart by T. Kingfisher – ARC; on Spring TBR list
- The King’s Messenger by Susanna Kearsley – ARC and preordered; on Spring TBR list
- Vanya and the Wild Hunt by Sangu Mandanna – ARC; on Spring TBR list
A pretty poor showing! I only read three of the eleven books on the list, and started a fourth. Four of the unread books made it onto the Spring 2025 TBR list, though. (The other ARCs I didn’t get around to are still on my TBR list; they just didn’t make it into the top 10 for this post.)

I feel ya on your Winter reading list – sometimes I feel like as soon as I make a list, I find other books to hold my interest and don’t get to the ones on the list!

I’m notoriously bad at sticking to reading lists, even my own.
Anne - Books of My Heart
I’ve read Murder by Memory(review today) and plan to read Hidden Nature.

I’m looking forward to Murder by Memory! Hidden Nature was good, but did push beyond my comfort zone when it came to the villain(s) and their motivation(s). (Trying not to give anything away here.) I ended up skimming through the parts that focused on them.
Ellie
My audiobook preorder of The Martian Contingency just dropped into my phone so I know what I’ll be listening to on my commute tomorrow! I’m also looking forward to Murder by Memory and The River Has Roots.

My winter TBR didn’t do so well; I read 4/10. I hope you enjoy reading all of these in the coming months.

At four, you beat me by one! I hope to get to more of the spring list.

I didn’t put The Library Game on my TTT list, but it is one I want to read. As well as Behooved. And the new Ally Carter, too! So many books…I wish reading was my job. ;D

I’m really looking forward to The River Has Roots! It didn’t make it onto my spring TBR list this week (though I’m not sure why not) but it is on my 5-star predictions for the year, so I’m really hoping to get to it soon. Happy reading!

I’m curious about that one, too. I’ve read one short story by El-Mohtar, and it was fantastic.

Susanna Kearsley is such an amazing writer. I haven’t read all her books yet (I’m saving some for when I need a treat), but every book I have read has been wonderful. So I’m definitely looking forward to The King’s Messenger.
Susan (Bloggin' 'bout Books)
I need to catch up on the Secret Staircase series. It’s so fun! I hope you enjoy all these.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I didn’t get the ARC for The Library Game, and I’m trying to minimize buying more books, so I’ll have to wait for the library hold to come in. But it shouldn’t be more than another month or two.
Katherine
There are so many great books here and so far the ones I’ve read I’ve enjoyed. I really liked The Library Game and I can’t wait for the Nora Roberts.
Lark_Bookwyrm
I have to wait for a library copy of The Library Game, unless the ebook goes on sale first. But I’m really eager to read it; I have loved this series since the first book.
Marwah @ The Booklore Fairy
