The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
Last Week
I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! It was unseasonably warm here, but a cold front came through in the evening, bringing high winds and a few spatters of rain. The winds meant my usual Halloween porch decorations — small ceramic ghosts and pumpkins with tea lights in them, which I set along the front porch railing — wouldn’t stay lit. As the winds picked up, I decided to bring them indoors so they wouldn’t blow down and break. The jack-o-lantern sits further back on the porch near the front door, so it didn’t blow out, but stayed cheerfully alight until the last trick-or-treaters were gone.
Once Mr. Bookwyrm got home, we settled in to watch Kingsman (I know, it’s not exactly a Halloween movie, but it was fun!) in between trick-or-treaters. Not that we had all that many visitors! The weather kept some away, I’m sure, and others like to go to developments with sidewalks and street lights, which our neighborhood does not have.
The rest of the week was uneventful. I turned an index in, started on the next one, directed a rehearsal, attended another… just a normal week, other than Halloween. This morning I enjoyed the extra hour of sleep.

What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: To get in the Halloween mood, I reread the entire Donovan Legacy quartet by Nora Roberts: Captivated, Entranced, Charmed, and Enchanted. Then I read a few of Heather Graham’s spooky Krewe of Hunters books that I hadn’t read before: The Unseen, The Uninvited, and The Unholy (which I haven’t yet finished.) In between other books, I’m still reading The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Becky Chambers) for #ReadForGrace. (Click titles for Goodreads links.)
Listening: I’m almost finished with The Perilous Gard, one of my favorite books to read in October. Next, I plan to finish episode #007 of the Tea & Strumpets podcast about The Viscount Who Loved Me. After that, I’m not sure what I will listen to next.
Watching: We finished up The Secret Adversary, the first Tommy and Tuppence mystery (the 1983 version), and watched Kingsman (for the second or third time), followed by Kingsman: The Golden Circle (for the first time.)

I definitely didn’t get to take advantage of that extra hour, I was up so early! We didn’t have great weather on Halloween, either.
Anne - Books of My Heart
It sounds like a good week. We had similar weather and not enough trick or treaters as there is too much candy left for me to eat, I am exactly at the point of your haul with Heather Graham series. I got them from the library but have yet to read them. Have a great week and some good reads!

I binged the Krewe of Hunters series really hard this week (Nov. 4-10); I kept gobbling them down like candy. I hope you’ve been enjoying them, too!

Oooh! I need to watch Kingsman again myself! I remembered enjoying that movie when it first came out!

Have you seen the second one? We enjoyed it, but not as much as the first movie. I’m looking forward to the prequel and to the third movie, though.
Aleen @ Lampshade Reader
I haven’t seen Kingsman yet, so I definitely need to remedy that. We don’t get any trick or treaters where I live. 🙁

Kingsman is a fun movie, but be forewarned, there’s a lot of violence. Most of it is like the violence in the Roger Moore-era James Bond films — sort of unbelievable — but there are one or two scenes that may be hard to watch.
I’m sorry you don’t get any trick-or-treaters; I always enjoy seeing the kids (and some parents) in their costumes!

The Kingsman movies are lots of fun. You read a lot last week too!
Wishing you a great reading week

I did read a lot last week, but they were all really fast reads. I agree, the Kingsman movies are fun, if a bit cavalier in their portrayal of violence. I was unhappy about some of the specific deaths in the second movie, though. Have a great week!

It started to get a little cooler here, and we had some winds. Where we live, there are definitely no kids, so we never really have anyone come by. Even though I’m not supposed to, there’s still lots of candy in the house too. (lol) The Kingsman is a really good movie, and I’ve seen both of them twice. I also have started binging on Christmas movies on Hallmark, Lifetime and Netflix. (lol) Still have a stack of library books to finish up and you have some really good authors on your list of reads too. Hugs, RO

I’m saving most of the Christmas movies (well, my favorites, anyway) for when we’re with Robin and my family at Christmastime. I might sneak in a few before that, though! Enjoy your stack of library books, and have a great week!

It was unseasonably cold last week where I live. We had a record low of 14F one night. It was slightly warmer on Halloween, but we still only got 12 trick-or-treaters. Oh, well. More candy for me. 😀

14 degrees?! Brrrrr! You must be a good bit north of us — or west and at high elevation.

Our Halloween was cold but it stopped raining for the first time in days so that was a win!
Kingsman is one I want to watch. I hadn’t had much interest before but I saw the beginning of the movie in the summer and was hooked. It’d be nice to sit down and watch it properly.

I’m glad it didn’t rain on your Halloween parade (so to speak)!
Kingsman is fun, particularly if you love James Bond movies. It has action, humor, drama, suspense, and some serious moments as well. There’s one rather horrifying segment in and in front of a church, though, so be prepared.
