The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
Last Week
The treadmill arrived Monday. It took us more than 4 hours to set it up yesterday, but as of today, I can get my walking in regardless of the weather. Huzzah! (Just in time for cooler weather LOL!) I am looking forward to increasing my stamina.
I spent about half of Wednesday and part of both Thursday and Friday spinning whilst listening to audiobooks. I’m trying to learn to spin a thinnish art yarn, with slubs and add-ins and a glorious riot of color. I am not as good as I would like at keeping the colors separate, so sometimes they get a bit muddy. But I enjoyed spinning this batt. I plan to ply it with thread, once the cones I ordered get here.

What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: I’m still reading Happily This Christmas. It’s going slowly, partly because I’m not in a Christmas mood and partly because one of the secondary characters is acting like a spoiled brat, which grates on my nerves. So I reread One Night for Love, one of my favorite Mary Balogh novels, then started Henrietta Who?, because my audiobooks (see below) put me in the mood for more Catherine Aird. (Click title for Goodreads page or my review.)
Listening: It was a great week for audiobooks (and spinning; see above.) I finished Some Die Eloquent by Catherine Aird, then went on to listen to At Bertram’s Hotel by Agatha Christie, because her 130th birthday was this week. I followed that up with A Most Contagious Game (another Aird mystery.) I need to finish Binti (Nnedi Okorafor), but I may decide to read the rest instead of listening to the audiobook. The narrator is excellent, but the book is darker than I anticipated, and right now, I think I can handle that better by reading than by listening.
Watching: A couple of episodes of Aerial America and Warehouse 13.

Purchased (Kindle, print, or audio)
Kindle: The Devil’s Due; The Magnolia Sword; You May Kiss the Duke. Audiobooks (Audible): A Most Contagious Game. (Click title for Goodreads page or my review.)

Great to hear your treadmill has arrived and you’ve got it set up in time for the cooler weather. While here we have been enjoying slightly unseasonable sunny weather, so have been able to be out and about a fair bit. Take care, stay safe and happy reading to you, too! 😃

Enjoy your sunny weather! And have a lovely week. 🙂

Glad you have the treadmill in place! And the spinning, while listening to audiobooks, sounds a real treat:)).
I was interested to hear your reaction to Binti – I find that there are things I’d rather read from the page than listen to aloud. And that any violence seems more shocking when hearing about it than reading it…
Lark_Bookwyrm
Yes, you’ve described my difficulty with Binti exactly. The narrator is so good that I hate to switch to the ebook… but on the other hand, I am not quite halfway through and have put off finishing it for several weeks, so perhaps switching media will help me get back to it.

I hope the treadmill does you good! I’d love to have one once I get a bigger house someday….

If it weren’t for the basement, we wouldn’t have had room for it, either. It’s not a large house in terms of living area, but the unfinished basement does give us a lot of room for storage—and for the treadmill.

I am sure you would have fun with spinning. And yay to new treadmill!

I do enjoy spinning. I have become reasonably competent at spinning a standard two-ply yarn in something between fingering and worsted weight, though I am still no expert. Art yarn is a new venture for me, though: thick and thin and usually containing various add-ins for color and texture.

I love Warehouse 13. 🙂

Isn’t it fun? Robin gave me the whole series for Christmas after we finished Eureka, which they had recommended to us. We’re about 5 or 6 episodes into Season 4 (of Warehouse 13, I mean.)

I wish we had room for a treadmill! It would help so much in the winter.
Lark_Bookwyrm
I certainly hope it does! They do make treadmills that fold up; maybe you would have room for one of those? I hope you have a lovely week.

The treadmill sounds great. I have a stationary bike. You have more patience than me- I won’t take up spinning. Have a lovely week!

I have found that both spinning and knitting&especially mindless knitting&decrease my stress levels and increase my patience. It’s almost meditative. I thought about a stationary bike, but I’ve never been comfortable on a bicycle seat, and the weight-bearing aspect of walking (or maybe, eventually, jogging) is supposed to be good for maintaining bone density, so we went with the treadmill. Have a great week!

Enjoy your treadmill! I kind of want one but at the same time I get bored on them and never make it very far before giving up…lol. Walking outside I don’t mind but in one place zzzzz 🙂 I will miss my walks when it gets colder. Good luck with the spinning!
Have a great week and happy reading!

I agree that I would rather walk outdoors when the weather is nice. But Virginia is usually much too hot and humid in summer for me to walk outside. I’ll actually do more outdoor walking now that it’s getting cooler, but I can use the treadmill on days when it’s too wet or stormy. I listen to audiobooks or music, so I don’t get bored—in fact, it’s a good way to get in some audiobook time. And I might try watching TV on my iPad.

Spinning sounds like fun, despite the challenge. Enjoy your latest haul.

Spinning is great; I really love it. I can’t finish this yarn until the thread for plying arrives, so tonight, I will probably start spinning another batch of fiber, for a regular yarn this time.
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

I glad you have some great books to read and list to.

I’ve thought about turning a room into a home gym but never got much further then that thought! I haven’t been doing many workouts here and while there is a gym in the building I’m not sure I want to risk the exposure and the neighborhood isn’t really walking friendly. I’ve read a few Catherine Aird and she is definitely an author I’d like to explore more. Hope you’re having a lovely week.

Oooh, I’m excited to see the results of your spinning project! I’ve never tried plying with thread (or anything other than more singles of the same batch, actually) but it does sound like an interesting thing to try.

Yay for the treadmill! I guess that means no excuses 😍 I want a bike but with toddler toys & stuff everywhere I really don’t have the space. Plus I’m sure Dante would find a way to climb it and hurt himself 🙈
Spinning is so cool – I wish I had time to take on a hobby, I’d love to learn to spin. Any hobby you can do while listening to audio books is a win! I hope you have a great week 😊
