The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: I spent the week indexing, planning and shopping for Christmas, and packing for our trip. We left yesterday morning for New Mexico and drove all and well into the evening before stopping for the night. By now we’re somewhere on I-40, headed west. Today’s drive will be around 10 hours, not including stops; tomorrow’s drive will be slightly shorter. We’ll spend the night at Robin’s and then all three of us will head to Utah to visit my dad and stepmom.
Between working on the index and visiting with family, I’ll be pretty busy in the coming week, so I probably won’t be around the blogosphere very much. I hope you all have a great week!
5 Good Things: Some good things from this week.
- I’ve got almost half my Christmas shopping done.
- I finished the first sock of the pair I’m knitting.
- The cardiologist is pleased with how I’m doing, post-ablation.
- I finally got back to studying Spanish on Duolingo.
- We’re on our way to see Robin and both sets of my parents!

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching (since 7/14/2024)
Reading: I reread Soft Focus by Jayne Ann Krentz. I read a little more of This Will Be Fun by E. B. Asher. But mostly I worked on Christmas shopping and packing, and listened to my audiobooks.
Listening to: I finished Arrow’s Flight by Mercedes Lackey, read by Christa Lewis. Then I started Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher, read by Jilly Bond. It’s an old favorite; I reread it at least every other holiday season. But I’ve never listened to the audiobook before. Bond’s narration is engaging, for the most part. She is particularly good at conveying a smile, warmth, even affectionate humor, and her accents are fairly accurate (to my American ears.) However, she isn’t quite as good at different voices as my favorite narrators tend to be. Her children’s voices sound querulous, rather than young, and some of the older characters sound a bit older than they ought. Still, I’m enjoying it.
Watching: several episodes of Star Trek: Next Generation, Season 1. And we watched a few episodes of Late Night with Stephen Colbert as well.
Playing: The usual games: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku. I also played a few games of Wingspan on Steam.

Enjoy your trip and your visits! It’s been cold and a bit hazy here in Utah this past week, and we haven’t had a lot of snow, but I guess that means the roads are nice and clear. Wishing you a safe journey. 😀

Thank you! This Will Be Fun is both fun and funny; at the same time, several of the main characters are in a lot of emotional pain. Somehow the authors balance the emotions and the humor and make it work.

Enjoy New Mexico! I love the landscape of that place. Utah is nice, too, but it looks more like my home.
