The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: Well, it got hot this week. Too hot for late April; it was 80 F and above for most of the week. That’s uncomfortably hot for walking, at least for me, so more of my exercise was on the treadmill than outdoors… and I didn’t do as much of it as I wanted to. I spent most of the week and both weekends working on an index. I hope to turn it in this week.
5 Good Things:
- The new Celia Lake book showed up in my Kindle Thursday night, and I enjoyed it very much!
- The new dress I bought for a family wedding in June arrived smelling heavily of chemicals. I washed it, and it came out much better, though there’s still a faint whiff. I needed something I could tolerate in Texas heat; this is a gauzy crinkle dress, and should do very well.
- We pulled together some things to sell, and Mr. Bookwyrm took about a car-load to our neighborhood yard sale. What didn’t sell went straight to the local thrift shop. We still have a lot to prune, but little by little…
- In looking through the basement for yard sale-able items, we discovered some things we had forgotten about. I cleaned up a pretty footed glass bowl; it’s now on display in the china cabinet we bought last summer.
- The index I am working on is fun.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished Knave of Diamonds by Laurie R. King (ARC), as well as The Goose Girl (Shannon Hale). I dove into Grown Wise (Celia Lake) as soon as it was released (midnight Friday) and finished it last night. Then I picked up The Library Game (Gigi Pandian) again.
Listening to: I finished The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley and started Clean Sweep (Graphic Audio edition) by Ilona Andrews for the Innkeeper readalong. (I borrowed both from Hoopla.) I’m also slowly savoring Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
Watching: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 4.
Playing: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT.) Wingspan.

For Review or Consideration

Many thanks to Ace for Violet Thistlewaite Is Not a Villain Anymore, and to Charlesbridge for Wanda Hears the Stars (written by a college friend.)
Library Haul

Library: Clean Sweep (Graphic Audio edition) (from Hoopla)
Purchased (Kindle, print, or audio)

Kindle: Lord of Scoundrels; Fugitive Telemetry; Over Sea, Under Stone; Silver on the Tree; Sunbolt; Grown Wise; A Week To Be Wicked; The Dean’s Watch. Until now, I have been doing really well at keeping my Kindle purchases to a minimum, but this week kind of blew that up (temporarily.) Grown Wise was a preorder. All the rest were on sale, and almost all of them were on my “duplicate my physical books” wish list—in other words, I have been waiting, in some cases for years, for the Kindle book to go on sale. In several cases, I can now let the paperback go, clearing a little more room off my shelves.

When I picked up Braiding Sweetgrass the first time, I had a hard time getting into it. Maybe I’ll try it again.

I find the author’s voice very soothing, and I think it works well having her read the book herself. So if you haven’t tried the audiobook, you might give it a try?
Anne - Books of My Heart
Hoopla has a great stock of Graphic Audio books. They are generally shorter because there is less description, he said, etc. I hope we will see you on some chats. The Innkeeper is so fun.

I’m still debating whether I like the Graphic Audio or not. I enjoy having all the different characters voiced by different actors, but I could do without some of the sound effects, and the music is sometimes too loud under the voices speaking. I loved the way Full Cast Audio did their audiobooks, so I’ll give this company a good try before I decide whether to switch back to the single-reader versions (or the ebooks, depending on which I have available. I have all the ebooks, but not quite all the original audiobooks.) I think this style might not work as well for me on a book I haven’t read before, and that includes the rest of the series; Clean Sweep is the only one I have read. But we’ll see! And isn’t it good that there are so many options for how people like to read?
And yes, I do hope to make it to the chats.

So many books! I’m not familiar with any of your selections, which suggests the vastness of bookland!
