My Week
It was a kind of quiet week, in part because I was down with a cold for most of it. However, I seem to be pretty much over it at this point – hurray! Our neighbor’s grandmother passed away on Friday, so yesterday I baked pumpkin bread and made a few quiches to take to them. I’ve also been working on choosing music for my choruses to sing in their fall concert. I’m a little over half-way there – I still need one more piece for my younger ones and two for my teens. I’m hoping to finalize that this afternoon.

What I’m Reading/Watching
I finished A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn (and loved it – see my review!), RaeAnne Thayne’s Evergreen Springs, and Linda Lael Miller’s Christmas in Mustang Creek – the latter two are holiday books that the publisher requested me to review before the Sept. 29 publication date. I’m currently reading Willow Brook Road (Sherryl Woods), Closer to Home (Mercedes Lackey – a re-read to refresh my memory before the sequel comes out), Forever Your Earl (Eva Leigh), and Move Your Blooming Corpse (D. E. Ireland). (Yes, I know that’s a lot – I had to put a few of them on pause because the Lackey has to go back to the library and the Ireland mystery will be published on Tuesday.) And I’m still listening to The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern, read by Jim Dale.)
We finished the Great Harry Potter Rewatch – movies 5 through 8, and another ST:DS9 episode. On my own, I watched an episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I have both the Christmas books you’ll be reviewing soon and I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of them. RaeAnne Thayne especially is quickly becoming a favorite author. You got some fantastic books. Sherryl Woods is an author I’ve been wanting to read more and I have several of her books. The Debbie Macomber cover is so pretty and I love the cover of The Prime Minister’s Secret Agent. I have a copy of the newest one out in October and I’m looking forward to getting to it. I’m hoping it works enough as a stand alone that I won’t be lost. I hope you’re feeling better! I had a cold a couple of weeks ago and was so glad when it finally went away. I hate being sick! The cover for Evergreen Springs looks so pretty, will have to remember to stop by for your review next week.
I plan on eventually watchign Avatar, it sounds like a fun series, but haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. My boyfriend and I are currently watching star trek voyager. I hope you’ll have a great week!

Yes, those are two of my absolute favorite Pern books, so having them available on my Kindle was a must – especially at a bargain price! We watched DS9 back when it was on air, too, but I missed a bunch of them, so we’re kind of catching up now. I need to get back to watching Doctor Who, as well. I’m really far behind in that – season 4, I think.

Do you read things as quickly as it looks like you do? If so, I have to know what your secret is! I’m lucky to get through five books a month–and the books I read are super short because their children’s books mostly.

I don’t get through as many books as it looks like from my “additions to the hoard.” Some of them are books I want to read someday, some are books I’ve read but know I will want to re-read, so I add them to my Kindle library when they’re on sale. (I like re-reading old favorites, and my eyes aren’t getting any younger. Scalable fonts are starting to be a real blessing.)
That said, I do read a lot when I can squeeze in the time – usually 2 to 4 books per week, sometimes more if I’m really lucky. But not everyone reads quickly, and it’s not always the best way of savoring a book! So if the books you read bring you joy, that’s all that really matters.

What wonderful books you have here! It’s understandable that some bloggers will be posting holiday/Christmas reviews in September and early October. My local Walmart has Halloween at one end of the store and Christmas at the other, yikes!!
Because of your enthusiasm about them, I’ve added the Raybourn and Ryan ones, and the Macomber and Woods books look like fun, easy, pleasant reads.
