Summary: I completed a total of 16 books in March, of which 3 were ARCs, 7 were first-time reads, and 9 were rereads. I posted no reviews of January or February books. I had reviewed one of this month’s rereads prior to 2025.
Challenges
Here’s the breakdown of my reading challenges this year so far:
- Goodreads Challenge: 37/140. I am 3 books ahead of schedule!
- Audiobook challenge: Listened to 5/12; reviewed 3/12
- COYER Out to Lunch challenge: Read 32/25; reviewed 14/25.
- Ilona Andrews series read-along: Read 1; reviewed 1. (I’m behind by about a book and a half, or maybe 2.)
- Library Love Challenge: Read 5/12; reviewed 4/12
- NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge: Read 7/25; reviewed 4/25 (Reviews includes 2 books read prior to 2025, so I still have 2 ARCs from January plus 2 more from March to review. I didn’t read any ARCs in February.)
- Robin’s Recs: Read 1/6; reviewed 0/6. (I’m partway through three audiobooks, so hopefully I’ll catch up soon.)

Other Goals and Resolutions
Writing: Days I wrote: 0 . Number of words written: 0. I need to do better in April!
Prioritizing reading and writing time over screen time: This did not go as well as I’d like, but I did find more time to read. The political chaos remains stressful, and it’s very hard to avoid either doomscrolling to find out what’s going on, or playing games to escape.
Review more of the books I read: This too did not go as well as I hoped, but I managed to write and post 5 reviews, so that’s something! I hope to catch up a bit in April.
Unpack and reorganize my book collection: This is occurring alongside cataloging my books, so it’s limited to the pace at which I can catalog them. It’s slow (I’m working on a post about why.)
Catalog my books: I’m making progress, but slowly, for reasons I’ll explain in a future post. Books catalogued so far this year: 125.

Anne - Books of My Heart
It seems to me you are doing much better this year than last year despite issue and challenges eating up your time.

On the whole, yes. I’ve certainly reviewed more books this year than I had by the end of March last year: 15 this year, compared with 11 in 2024. I have posted more in general, too. If I can just keep up the pace… I’m averaging one review a week, though I would like to be reviewing twice a week. Last year, things fell apart after March. I hope that doesn’t happen this year.

You did really great this month! I had a bit of a slump at the beginning of the month but I hope that’s over now. Looking forward to a new reading month and reading better! Have a wonderful April!

I hope your April is full of wonderful books!

Sounds like March was a great reading month! Here’s to a good April as well. And I know what you mean about doomscrolling more than you would prefer… I’ve been there, too. Yet, staying informed is important, which may mean more screentime than we would like. Alas.

Some days, I just have to take a complete break from the news.
I hope you have a great reading month in April!

Good luck with the book catalog! I’ve thought about doing that, but it seems way too overwhelming.

It always did to me, too. But since I had to pack my books away last summer anyway, it seems like a good opportunity to prune, catalog, and organize as I reshelve them. I’ve already found some I can let go of.
