Sunday Post – 12/20/15

December 20, 2015 Sunday Post 22

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures – I mean books!

My Week

I’ve been in New Mexico with Robin, my mom and stepdad, and my sister since Monday, relaxing and getting ready for Christmas. Mr. Bookwyrm is flying in today; my brother-in-law got back from a business trip last night, and my niece and nephew and their respective significant others should be here within a few days. I am looking forward to being with all of them — and I’m really looking forward to seeing my husband, since I haven’t seen him in almost two weeks! Unfortunately, due to pressures at work, he has to return home in a week instead of staying two more weeks with Robin and me, so we’ll have to really soak up the time with him while he’s here.

Which means, of course, that I won’t be online very much this week. I’ve scheduled posts for this week, but there will be no News & Notes and probably no Sunday Post next weekend. And it may take me a while to answer comments – and I’ve got a backlog already! I’ll do my best to catch up in the weeks after Christmas.

May you have a joyous Christmas, if you celebrate it, and a wonderful week if you don’t!

What I’m Reading/Watching

Robin and I have been watching the Star Wars movies in preparation for The Force Awakens. The whole family will see it together on Monday night – so no spoilers, please!

As for reading, I’ve been pretty busy with family and Christmas preparations, but I’ve read Kaleidoscope (Dorothy Gilman) and Thread and Gone (Lea Wait – I’ll be on the blog tour in January.) Now I’m in the middle of Beverly Jenkins’s Forbidden (one of my Avon Addicts romances.)

Nothing this week!

Purchased or Free for Kindle

I also bought a bunch of Agatha Christie novels on sale (books I’ve read), so I can let go of some of the deteriorating paperbacks I bought several decades ago.

I hope you have a terrific week,  and happy reading!

Enjoy your family time, it sounds like you’re having a nice visit and seeing lots of relatives. That’s always nice at the holidays.

I hope you enjoy Star Wars! And merry Christmas!!

We’re having fun – lots of laughter, card games, etc. And the Star Wars movie was a lot of fun. Better than the prequels, at least!

It sounds like you’ll have a fantastic time for the holidays, Lark! And I’m with you – spending those special days with most of our family is the best. Too bad Mr. Bookwyrm won’t be able to stay with you the whole time.
I think most of us are taking some time off next week, I’m definitely not going to be online much, as I haven’t seen my sister for a very, very long time, and we have lots of catching up to do.
    Have a wonderful holiday.

I’ve managed to avoid spoilers so far (mostly by staying away from Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook as much as I can), but I’m not sure I could avoid them for 2 weeks! So I’m glad we’re all going Monday night… and I hope you can get through “un-spoiled” until you can see it, too.

Merry Christmas to you and to your family, Michelle!

Have a great Christmas (my husband is from NM!) and enjoy the time with your family 🙂 I haven’t been to see the new Star Wars movie yet but hopefully we’ll be going sometime this week!

I’ll be soaking up the family time, and I’m starting to get really excited about the movie. I hope you get a chance to see it too! Have a wonderful holiday.

There is a movie, which gets mixed reviews from people who love the book. I haven’t seen it, but if it ever shows up on Netflix, I’ll probably give it a try.

      Happy holidays to you too!

Thank you! I hope your holidays are happy too. And I’m looking forward to seeing the new Star Wars movie — all my friends who have seen it have been enthusiastic, though they’re being very good about avoiding spoilers.

The Hathaway series is a favorite of mine, too! Have a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate it, and a lovely week if you don’t!

Yes, it is. He was originally planning to spend two or three weeks here, but things just didn’t work out that way. But I am indeed enjoying every moment with him! And I remind myself that it would be a lot tougher if he were in the military or some other field where he would be deployed/away for months at a time.
