Last Week
In real life: I spent most of the week working on a slide presentation about visible mending for the fiber guild, which I gave after Saturday’s monthly meeting. Some of us stayed for a few hours after the meeting to hang out and work on our various fibery projects. I brought my travel spinning wheel and did some spinning. I didn’t get home until after 4:00, by which point I was completely wiped out. I’m out of practice with “people-ing,” as my family calls it! Since I work alone from home, and we are currently without a local church community, I haven’t spent much time in a group of people for the past three years. As an introvert, I’m finding that even more tiring than it used to be. Which is not to say I don’t enjoy getting together with my fiber community—I do! It was a great morning and afternoon. But I had to spend the rest of the day and evening reading, just to recover my energy.
During the rest of the week, whenever I wasn’t working on the program, I was reading, knitting, making Dorset buttons, and catching up on some index-related paperwork. This coming week, I have an indexing project to start, and I want to get back to writing.
The weather has been colder most of the week, with high temperatures in the 40s and low 50s, and a couple of nights when it may have dipped to near or just below freezing. It must be very confusing for all the poor trees and flowers that thought it was spring! The cherry trees and Bradford pears are in full blossom; the forsythia are either blooming or almost past their bloom depending on location; the daffodils are out and I have even seen tulips about to open (so, past the bud stage.) It’s beautiful, but it’s crazy. And it makes me worry about what kind of temperatures we will be in for, come summer.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished The Raven Thief by Gigi Pandian and read Remember Me by Mary Balogh (both ARCs.) I reread Sailor’s Jewel, The Hare and the Oak, and Point by Point by Celia Lake. I am still reading Unraveling by Peggy Orenstein.
Listening to: I started Hexed, the second Iron Druid book by Kevin Hearne; it’s read by Luke Daniels. I’m also listening to Season 4 of the Writing Excuses podcast.
Playing: Wordle, the NYT Spelling Bee, Sudoku, Carcassone (app), and Pokemon Go. I play them occasionally, not every day.
Watching: All Creatures Great and Small (Season 3) and Star Trek: Picard (Season 3.)

I don’t think I’m an introvert but I do love to be at home and do my own things. The weather has been up and down here. We’re in a brief cold spell. I’m starting Hexed tomorrow and really looking forward to it!

Oh, I completely understand that feeling! Mr. Wyrm and I both have introvert tendencies (me more than him, I think) and sometimes we describe a situation as “too people-y” as the reason why we don’t want to go. I do like spending time with friends, but I can’t handle as much of it as I used to pre-pandemic. You’re right; it’s just more tiring than it used to be.

I can relate to the over peopling! I had a dog trial all weekend and when I got home Sunday I just went to bed. I was worn out! I’m reading The Raven Thief now and am really looking forward to the Anna Lee Huber. I hope you’re having a great week!

Totally understand about people-ing! When I work I do a lot of people-ing and I’m exhausted by the time I get home. I need quiet time.
There are buds on our trees but no flowering which is a good thing since the snow has just barely melted since our monster storms. I’m going to do some major pruning on a few neglected fruit trees in our backyard today.
I’m looking forward to that new Lady Darby. Not sure if I’ll request it at Netgalley or just wait for the library audio. I love the audios.
