The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
Last Week
In real life: My new phone arrived! I had to spend a day or two pruning my photos and backing them up to the cloud before I could transfer everything to the new phone. Wow, it is so much faster than my old phone! I didn’t realize how much the old one had slowed down, though it had gotten rather glitchy at times.
Other than that, I didn’t do much or go anywhere until Friday, when I made a quick run into town (25 minutes away) to pick up my library holds. It was nice to have a quiet week.
I did get several blog posts written and posted this week. including several I hadn’t actually planned on writing. And I wrote a book review that will post next week. I would like to get enough reviews written in October that I can skip writing any in November, when I’m doing NaNoWriMo. But we’ll see. I also need to be writing in October, as well as doing some NaNoWriMo prep.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished rereading Pastiche by Celia Lake, and started Mistress of Birds. I also read Rough Around the Hedges by Lish McBride (which I loved) and Keep the Memories, Lose the Stuff by Matt Paxton (which I also loved for entirely different reasons.)
I paused my reading of The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murphy. It’s good, but it’s just not holding my attention right now. I do want to get back to Claws and Contrivances by Stephanie Burgis and Anything with Nothing, a Valdemar anthology that includes a novella by Mercedes Lackey (both books are ARCs.)
Listening to: I continued with Shattered by Kevin Hearne. And I’m almost finished with Season 6 of the Writing Excuses podcast.
Playing: Wordle, Connections, and the NYT Spelling Bee, and a little bit of Pokemon Go.
Watching: I have been putting off finishing Season 2 of Strange New Worlds. I have a feeling it’s going to be a cliffhanger, and given the writers and actors strikes, it’s going to be a long wait for Season 3. But we started watching America Outdoors with Barathunde Thurston on PBS, and I really like it. The show explores different places from the point of view of how America’s diverse people and communities interact with nature and the land. It’s deeply respectful and inclusive; it’s also warm and hopeful.

I applaud your planning and foresight in clearing the decks for NaNoWriMo. I’ve never taken part in anything like that, but I am wondering, given my complete lack of forward momentum with my current WIP over the summer if it would be a good idea. I absolutely loved The Shepherd’s Crown, but then I think the Tiffany Aching series is my favourite anyway. Have a great reading week:)).

I spy some TERRY PRATCHETT in there! He is one of my favorites, I love just about everything he’s done that I’ve read so far! I hope that you enjoy all these amazing reads in the upcoming month–happy spooky season!

It’s always shocking with new technology and wondering how we made do before but at one point it was the newest thing. I’m glad to see Staked on your list. Shattered and Staked are both fantastic reads. I really enjoyed Fourth Wing but it is loooooong.

Sounds like a great month overall! Here’s hoping you can get enough blog posts scheduled for November that you don’t need to worry about them during NaNo. I’ve always found that NaNo can be really rough on the blog if I don’t get things planned in advance.
Did you see the news about Claws & Contrivances? The Kickstarter for the audiobook just reached 100%! Very exciting. But now I need to decide if I want to read my ebook copy, or wait for the audio. (Or read the ebook now, and then revisit it in audio later.)

Good luck with the November writing. Hope it goes well for you. 25 Days til Christmas looks good. I thought for a minute I had already read it but I went and looked it up and it had to be another Christmas book with a similar cover. I’m deep in the middle of spooky books with holiday ones on the horizon. Hope you have a great week!
