The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: I spent the last few days preparing for the conference I am attending this coming week. I won’t be around much this week, so I’ll try to catch up on blog visits next week (in between packing up almost everything I own so we can get the floors replaced.)
Decluttering: I keep chipping away at the decluttering. I also started packing a few things away, beginning with the decorative trinkets/figures/tchotchkes. (All the breakable ones went into the new china cupboard for now, since it’s in a room that isn’t being refloored. I put the oldest and most fragile of the antiquarian books in there, too.)
Writing accountability: My minimum goal is an achievable 250 words every day (fiction or other creative writing; book reviews don’t count.) I wrote 4 days this week, but missed Thursday and Friday (and probably Saturday.) Mostly I have been writing the first draft of a long fanfic, but I also worked on the second draft of a children’s story about a stuffed bear that I wrote when Robin was little. (I found it while I was decluttering.) Word count for the week: 2887 words (my goal was 1,750 for the week, so at least I beat that!) I am using 4theWords to gamify my writing sprints.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading and Listening: I finished listening to The Firebird and started A Desperate Fortune. Both areby Susanna Kearsley, and both are re-reads (or rather, re-listens.) I didn’t read anything at all this week in print or ebook, except a couple of chapters of A Desperate Fortune when I didn’t have my earbuds handy. It’s as though my brain just refuses to concentrate on the written word. That is really unusual for me, and it worries me.
Watching: Basically nothing.
Playing: Some of the NYT word games, mostly Wordle, Connections, and the Spelling Bee. The NYT is beta-testing a new game called Strands, which I like. I also played Pokémon Go a few days.

Anne - Books of My Heart
I admire your ability to do your decluttering and your writing. We went to the NC History museum and they had spinning and weaving which we tried a little. My daughter loved it.

I have had that happen where it feels like my eyes are just bouncing off the page. It usually happens when my brain is so overloaded it can’t be still. I’m glad audio is working for you and hopefully things will settle down a bit soon. Between the wrist and the having to pack up everything for the flooring you’ve had a hectic few months. I hope you’re having a great week!
