The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
This Week
I’m honestly beginning to wonder if I have ADHD (inattentive type, without the hyperactivity). I simply can’t seem to stay on task, unless it’s something I’m deeply interested in and focused on. To give an example, Wednesday I started putting stuff away in the living room and ended up washing all the cookie cutters LOL! (There was actually a semi-logical progression between these actions, but still.) To be clear, I’ve always struggled with distractibility and getting things done, but it has gotten worse over the last few years. It’s weird to be wondering about ADHD at my age… but it would explain a lot.
We had a Zoom birthday party for my sister, my niece, and a family friend last night. It was fun, but not as much fun as seeing them in person over the holidays. Even if there were no pandemic, though, we still live really far away, so the Zoom parties are a great way to stay in touch.
This weekend’s snowstorm dropped only about 2 inches here, none of which stuck to roads or sidewalks. Pretty, but not too much of an inconvenience. I hope everyone further north along the Atlantic seaboard is safe and warm… and has plenty of books to read!

The Backlist Reader Challenge
It’s not too late to sign up for The Backlist Reader Challenge again this year. If you’re looking to read the backlog of books on your TBR pile or To-Read list, come check it out! This challenge is for classics you never got around to, for all those ARCs you should have read a couple of years ago, for that series your bestie has been insisting you read for the past decade or more…for any and every book you’ve been intending to read for a while, as long as it’s on your TBR list and was published before 2020. This is the last time I will post this reminder, but you can sign up through the end of November.
The review linky is finally up and working!
What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading: On a whim, I binge-reread the Protector of the Small quartet by Tamora Pierce (which I reviewed in 2009.) It’s one of my absolute favorite YA fantasy series, and I hadn’t reread it since 2018, so it was definitely time. It doesn’t count for any of my challenges, and I don’t care; I love it, and it felt so good to dive back into the world of Tortall.
Currently, I am reading This Poison Heart (Kalynn Bayron) and An Impossible Imposter (Deanna Raybourn; ARC), and rereading The Lark and the Wren (Mercedes Lackey; reviewed in 2015.)
Listening to: I started listening to Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire. It’s good, but also creepier than I was expecting. I’m not sure if I will finish it in audio, or on Kindle. (It also depends on when my audiobook library checkout expires.)
Watching: Star Trek: Discovery, Season 4, and Leverage, Season 1.

Anne - Books of My Heart
oh I have the Becky Chambers audio from the library right now. I’m listening to ARCs but hope to fit it in over the next couple weeks. If I could listen to it tomorrow it might count for the RAT since it’s probably on your TBR. lol

Audible put the Becky Chambers on sale for $5, and I couldn’t resist. I need to finish my library audiobook (Every Heart a Doorway) first, though. And yes, it’s on my TBR, so you could totally count it for the RAT.

I agree that Zoom has been a great tool for staying in touch! We haven’t done a Zoom party in awhile, but at least it’s a way to see everyone!
Marianna @ Tell me a Yarn
I haven’t read any Tamora Pierce’s books in awhile. I might do some re-reading soon.

Yeah, I suppose that the Wayward Children series is often a touch on the creepy side. I usually forget about that aspect of them because I enjoy them so much. But also — I have never listened to the audiobooks. That might make them creepier.

You know it’s funny you mention ADHD. My daughter and I are convinced that she has it. Apparently it presents very differently in girls and that’s why so few girls are diagnosed during school age. Zoom is such a great tool! One of our nurse practitioners is leaving the clinic and is switching to a work from home situation where she can see patients but still be home for the on again off again schedules that the schools are doing at the moment. Glad you were able to celebrate with your family. Have a wonderful week!

Robin and I are convinced they have ADHD, too. They have done a lot of research into it, which they shared with me. And they have incorporated ADHD-oriented organizational strategies into their life, with good results. But I never thought of ADHD in terms of myself until recently, especially since I’ve never been hyperactive in my life. (As I understand it, the medical profession now classed the inattentive type of ADD as ADHD, too; if I have it at all, that’s what I have.) Regardless of whether it’s ADHD or not, I figure it can’t hurt me to read up on management strategies and give some of them a try!
