The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: Once again, I’m a little late publishing the Sunday Post. It has been an incredibly busy week, but a good one. As I mentioned in the last Sunday Post, I flew out to Utah to spend a few weeks with my dad and stepmom. Yesterday (Sunday), we celebrated my dad’s 95th birthday with a big party at the clubhouse in their condo neighborhood. Everything went really well, and Dad loved the whole thing. It was totally worth all the days of effort and preparation that went into it. We’re all exhausted today, but really happy that it went so well. Over half of my cousins made it, including three of us from out of state (Virginia, Arizona, and California respectively.) Other guests included family on my stepmom’s side and friends from my dad’s childhood, from my dad and stepmom’s church, and from several groups they have been involved in over the years. In all, there were 90 people there. I’m so glad we were able to have something like this for Dad while he’s still alert and hale enough to enjoy it.
5 Good Things:
- The party was a success, and Dad loved it.
- I’m enjoying nearly 2 whole weeks with my dad and stepmom, which is longer than usual.
- I spent a wonderful morning with two of my cousins.
- The cold weather has broken, and we’re looking forward to a week of milder weather.
- I’m so thankful that all four of my parents are still living and in relatively good health for their age.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching (since 7/14/2024)

Reading: I finished rereading Identity by Nora Roberts (reviewed April 2023) and started both Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne and Born in Fire by Nora Roberts (which was also a reread.) I finished the latter, but I’m still reading Can’t Spell Treason and really enjoying it.
Listening to: I haven’t had time or the technology to listen to anything this week except classical music on the radio. My rental car isn’t talking to my phone, and in the house, I want to be present to my parents, so I’m not wandering around in earbuds.
Watching: Antiques Road Show, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, the news, and whatever else my dad and stepmom happen to have on. I saw part of Skin of Glass, a very interesting documentary on a São Paulo skyscraper and Brazil’s housing crisis, filmed by the architect’s daughter.
Playing: In my very occasional free moments: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, Sudoku (all from the NYT), or Wingspan.
