2026 Library Love Challenge

I’m signing up for the 2026 Library Love Challenge hosted by Angel’s Book Nook & Books of My Heart. This year, I want to try to buy fewer books and to support my local libraries by using them more. I have two library cards: one for our county public library, and one for the regional library system near us (for which I pay a nominal yearly fee.)

My goal is to read at least 12 library books in 2026.

I’m joining at the Dewey Decimal level, which is 12 books over the course of a year. If I’m ahead of that goal at the end of the first trimester, I may revise my goal upward. I listened to a lot more audiobooks on Hoopla last year, so going over my goal is definitely possible.

Details:

This year’s challenge is divided into three trimesters:

➜ Winter Semester: Jan. 1st, 2026 – April 30th, 2026
➜ Summer Semester: May 1st, 2026 – Aug. 31st, 2026
➜ Autumn Semester: Sept. 1st, 2026 – Dec. 31st, 2026

There will also be a few Mini-Challenges. The Audiobook Challenge will be June 1 – July 31. The Library Bingo (with COYER friends) will run September 1 – October 31. And there’s a Goodreads group (optional) if you are interested; details on the official sign-up page.

Rules:

The goal is to find your love of your local library and to read at least twelve (12) books from the library, but you can read more. While twelve is the minimum; there is no maximum limit.
Any format will work for this challenge (print, eBook, or audio.) As long as you checked it out from the library, it counts.
Books can be any genre (fiction, nonfiction, romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller, horror, etc.).
Crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed, including re-reads. The goal is to support your local library and save money.
