It’s Time for the CLEAN SWEEP ARC CHALLENGE!

Clean Sweep ARC Challenge May 2014
I’ve signed up for the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge  hosted by Kimba at The Caffeinated Reviewer and Angie at Angela’s Anxious Life! The challenge runs for the entire month of May, and there will be mini-challenges and a mid-month Twitter party just for fun.
Rules: Read ARCs between May 1 and May 31, 2014. You don’t have to post the full review on your blog, just link to your Goodreads review showing the book as read, with a one- or two-sentence review. (Helpful because some publishers don’t want advance reviews published too soon before the publication date.) Also, participate in some challenges, and the usual start-up post with goals. (You can read the entire list of rules by clicking on the button at the top.)
My goals: Read at least 8 ARCs during the month of May. Here are some of the titles I want to read, but of course I don’t know which new ARCs may come my way before the end of the challenge! I’m waiting to hear on three more ARCs I’ve already requested, and I’ll probably request a few more before May 30.  (Some of these are forthcoming; a few are older ARCs I’m behind on.) ETA: The ones in red are the ones I really want to finish by the end of May, though I’ll be lucky to get through 10 of them.

ETA: I’m adding the date as I finish each one. Many of the reviews won’t post until after the challenge is over.

  1. Death Runs Adrift (Karen MacInerney) (finished before May 1, so it doesn’t count)
  2. Murder at Honeychurch Hall (Hannah Dennison) – 5/12/14
  3. Deep Blue (Jennifer Donnelly)
  4. The Garden Plot (Marty Wingate)
  5.  The Immortal Crown (Richelle Mead)
  6. The Late Scholar (Jill Paton Walsh)- 5/15/14
  7. The Beekeeper’s Ball (Susan Wiggs)
  8. Child of a Hidden Sea (A. M. Dellamonica)
  9. Until We Touch (Susan Mallery) – 5/07/14
  10. The Prime Minister’s Secret Agent (Susan Elia MacNeal)
  11. The Escape (Mary Balogh)
  12. The White Magic Five & Dime (Hockensmith & Falco)
  13. Alias Hook (Lisa Jensen)
  14. Of Merlot & Murder (Joni Folger)
  15. Under Cold Stone (Vicki Delany)
  16. The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry (Gabrielle Zevin)
  17. The Mark of the Dragonfly (Jaleigh Johnson)
  18.  Relatively Dead (Sheila Connolly)

Oh awesome list, and I laughed when you said, “who knows what new arcs will come my way” so true and sometimes even if I should, I cannot say, “No” Good luck Lark!

That’s an ambitious list! Mine would have been a long one too except I’m working on library books and children’s book week. Although some of those books do fit into the challenge too.

I liked Murder at Honeychurch Hall, it was good. I think you’ll like it.

      Good luck!

Oh, I’m glad you liked it! It’s next on my list. Actually, I need to take Death Runs Adrift off the list; I prepared the post ahead of time, and finished that book the night before the post when up. So technically, it doesn’t count.

What a list! I’m doing the challenge too. I have so very many ARCs but I’ll be happy to finish 10 this month. Good luck!

I don’t know if I can get to all of those this month, either. Right now, I’ve been on a reading binge, but not reviewing as consistently, so I need to get some of the reviews written. But I’ve got two freelance jobs in May, which means my reading time will be curtailed. Still, I’d like to get to at least 10 of these, hopefully more!

You have a really nice list going there. Good luck! And sometimes ARCs are too hard to turn down so your list might get even bigger before the end of may haha

    5. Angela's Anxious Life

Yeah!! So glad you are joining us!!! I know you can get at least a big chunk of those books read. Bout of Books is coming so you might be able to combine the two! Have fun…

That’s a big old pile of books! Hopefully they are all quick reads though I do have faith that you can get through most of them. The only on I’ve heard of is The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry and it sounds really fantastic. Good Luck!

      • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Some of them should go quickly, but at least one is a chunkster (The Immortal Crown, if it takes after it’s predecessor.) Plus I have some freelance work to do this month. But we’ll see how it goes!

Good Luck! You have a great list! I hope you are able to finish them all. I am also worried I might find new ones to add while I read 🙂

good luck with the challenge – you’ve got quite a list there! I’m doing it too and hoping to get really truly caught up on my review reads!
