The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures – I mean books!
My Week
For some reason, it’s been hard to stay focused on much of anything this week. No snow down here to speak of – we got about 3/4 of an inch – but my thoughts are with those of you in the Northeast. I read three and a half books for the COYER Scavenger Hunt this week, but only got one of the reviews written – Beastkeeper. Mr. Bookwyrm and I went out to dinner last Sunday night, and on Friday night we watched Guardians of the Galaxy – it was fun, but it didn’t pull me in like most of the Avengers movies have. Next up on the movie schedule is Howl’s Moving Castle, which I’ve heard really good things about.

On the whole, I liked it. And I loved the part set in Japan.
Lory @ Emerald City Book Review

I read Splintered, but not Unhinged yet. And I read The Lost Prince, but I haven’t read the original Iron Fey series, so I thought I’d like to try it. Thanks for stopping by!
Catherine @ Book Club Librarian
Nice incoming books, Lark. Enjoy them and have a great week.

Bea @Bea's Book Nook
Lucky you with the snow! I got hit hard but at least I didn’t lose power. That would have been most uncomfortable!
Miss Buncle looks interesting; I’ll wait and see what you think of them.
Stay warm!

I’m glad you had power so you could stay warm! I don’t know when I’ll get to the Miss Buncle books. I’ll probably read them on a whim at some point, but they’re not in my top 60 or so that I hope to get to this year.
Alma @ Journey Through Fiction
Unhinged!! <3 🙂 I love the Splintered trilogy so much! Hope you enjoy the last two books! I finished up the series recently, and I really liked it. And Beastkeeper! I can't wait to read it! Have a great week, and happy reading!

I must admit that while Splintered was really good, it was also a bit weird and creepy for me. Still, I want to know what happens, and there’s only one way to find out!
Laura @ trips down imagination road
Oh you picked up more Courtlight! I love that series, the most recent one has just come out and I just know I’m going to end up one clicking soon!

I know how you love them! When I saw the first three as a set for free, I figured I should grab them in hopes that I love the first one (that you gave me – thank you!) as much as you do. And thank you also (again) for the mug – it’s my absolute favorite of the 20 or so we own, because of the photo and also because it’s really big. (I love a big cup of tea and I cannot lie.) 🙂

I like the covers on the Miss Buncle books. I thought I would get much more reading done with the storms but have not. 🙁

I thought I’d get more done with no indexing project at the moment… but I’ve been uber-distractable lately.

We didn’t get snow all week, and then overnight we got dumped on. Blizzard time again. 🙂 Glad you escaped the worst of it. Beastkeeper looks nice, I’ll have to lookinto that one.
I liked Guardians the first time I saw it, was pleasantly surprised, but the next time I saw it (with friends who had not seen it yet) I liked it less so. definitely not quite in the Avengers vein.

I know I shouldn’t envy you folks the snow, as it’s quite inconvenient… but I wish we could have just one good-sized snowfall this winter!
Beastkeeper was really good; you should definitely take a look. As for Guardians – well, it was fun, but I doubt I’ll watch it again.
Thanks for stopping by and stay warm!

I am only like 5% done with BeastKeeper right now but I am liking it!!

Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library
Oh the Miss Buncle books called my name but I resisted them. I kind of regret it now though. Not like I don’t have anything else to read! The Julia Quinn!! I’m so excited about the new one. I love her books and while this isn’t quite as good as the Bridgerton books I feel like each one is getting better and the characters are getting more interesting. I’m catching up on movie watching but I haven’t seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet. Howl’s Moving Castle sounds interesting as well. Have a great week!

Part of me thinks I shouldn’t have gotten the Miss Buncle books; I have so much else to read! But they did look fun. I agree with you on the current Julia Quinn series, but I always enjoy her – and I love Frances and her unicorn obsession. I dearly hope JQ writes a romance for her, too, when she grows up. Howl’s Moving Castle was good, though it departs from the book a fair bit. Beautiful animation, though, and good storytelling. I wish you a good week as well!
Stephanie
I LOVE (and own) Howl’s Moving Castle the movie but really want to read the book too. Also D.E. Stevenson has come to my attention a lot lately and would like to pick up some of those books sometime. Glad you missed the bulk of the storm!

The book of Howl’s Moving Castle is similar to the movie in some ways, quite different in others. I really like the book, and enjoyed the movie despite the differences.
I just came across The Eterna Files today, and wondered if I should put them on my TBR list. But after reading your review, no, I definitely won’t. We have enough similarity in reading taste that the things that bothered you would irritate me as well. Thank you for the warning!

Dreaming Spies looks good, and I look forward to your thoughts. We got 9 inches of snow and it’s still falling, but compared to the East coast I will not complain. Have a lovely week Lark 🙂

Well, compared to my part of Virginia, you can complain – we didn’t get much of anything but rain. 9 inches and still falling? Sounds lovely – but I’m sure it’s less so in reality than in theory. Dreaming Spies was good; the review went up today! Have a great week and enjoy that new baby, “Nonna”!

I loved Splintered and now have the other books too. Can’t wait to read them. I wouldn’t be surprised if these were made into movies.
Enjoy your new reads.
