The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: We had a quiet week and a quiet Thanksgiving, which honestly suited me down to the ground. I went into town on Monday for bloodwork, then hung out in the fiber guild’s studio for an hour or two, talking with a few friends. Wednesday I baked a pie (the frozen kind; I wasn’t that ambitious!), prepped the sweet potatoes, and made the corn pudding for Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving, I cooked the rest of our meal, except the mashed potatoes which are Mr. Bookwyrm’s specialty. The rest of the week was mostly spent working on my books and on the house.
5 Good Things:
- I got my A1C down another tiny increment! I’d like to drop it further, but at least the (somewhat) healthier eating and weight loss are paying off. (Thanksgiving weekend set the weight loss back a little, but I’m back to healthy eating again now.)
- My copy of Grandmaster, a limited-edition collection of Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar short stories, finally arrived! I kickstarted it back in 2023 or 2024, and it has been a long time in the making, but it’s here. (Technically not Kickstarter, but the crowdfunding site’s name doesn’t turn into a verb very easily.)
- I’m at least halfway done with my Christmas shopping, and not quite halfway on handmade gifts—but I have a 3-day cross-country trip coming up, during which I can knit.
- Mr. Bookwyrm is making great progress with scanning and digitizing old files and photographs. The goal is to reduce the amount of actual paper we need to keep.
- We’re getting ready for our annual winter trip to see our family out west!

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: After finishing up my reread (via audiobook; see below) of the first two Lost Bride books, I dived into The Seven Rings, the third and final book in the trilogy. I alternated reading and listening, and finished it in just a few days. I also finished reading Diamond Fire (Ilona Andrews), a novella that bridges the gap between the first Hidden Legacy trilogy and the second. And I started a reread of A Presumption of Death by Dorothy Sayers & Jill Paton Walsh; it’s been so long since I read it that I can’t remember it at all, so it hardly counts as a reread.
Listening to: I finished Inheritance by Nora Roberts (reviewed in 2024) and The Mirror. Both were rereads, but my first time listening to the audiobook; I wanted to revisit them before starting the third book, The Seven Rings, which just came out a week ago (and which I also finished this week, as I mentioned above.) Then I started Sapphire Flames (Ilona Andrews), the first of the Catalina Baylor trilogy that is part of the Hidden Legacy series.
Watching: Star Trek: The Next Generation, season 6; The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; and a documentary called Bring Them Home, about the effort to restore wild buffalo to the Blackfoot reservations in Montana and Alberta province.
Playing: Wingspan on my phone, both solo and long-distance with my sister. And my usuals: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT), and Pokémon Go.

I love Nora Roberts books in audio format and I’ve really enjoyed this latest trilogy. Yay for getting your A1c down! I’m having a similar fight with my cholesterol and have had some luck. Have a wonderful week and happy reading!

You’re so good at planning and executing your plans for things. The Hidden Legacy books are great! A quiet week and Thanksgiving are awesome.
