Sunday Post – 8/09/15

August 9, 2015 Sunday Post 14

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures – I mean books!

My Week

Robin and I are in New Mexico visiting my parents. We arrived Tuesday, and we’ll be here for two weeks before heading over to Arizona to get her set up for school. Yesterday morning, we went to the local art fair and parade, and last night we celebrated Robin’s 21st birthday with family and friends out here. It was great! My niece Maria played Irish fiddle music, Robin’s good friend C came up from Albuquerque and played her bagpipes, my sister made her famous to-die-for chocolate cake (from scratch), and we laughed and talked and had a wonderful time.

In the middle of all this hustle and bustle (!) I’m trying to get an index done with a wonky wrist. I’ve made progress, but it’s going to be a few more days of really hard work to get it out the door. Then I can relax a bit.

Speaking of celebrations, Mr. Bookwyrm and I will be married 25 years this week! I can hardly believe it. Where did the time go? We plan to take a few days off after Robin is settled in her college digs, and take a little mini-holiday together before we head home. It’s really hard to be apart on our anniversary (well, anytime, but especially this week), but I’m looking forward to some time alone together with nothing to do but enjoy pretty scenery and relax. He sent me 25 gorgeous roses to mark our anniversary (a little ahead, so I’d have more time to enjoy them.)

What I’m Reading/Watching

I didn’t watch a thing this week, but thanks to a day spent in the airport and on the plane, I got more reading done. I finished Starlight on Willow Lake (Susan Wiggs), Energized (Mary Behre), A Nun in the Closet (Dorothy Gilman), The Art of Sinning (Sabrina Jeffries), Right Wrong Guy (Lia Riley), and Some Die Eloquent (Catherine Aird.) I’ve got a lot more books to get read in the next few weeks, so I hope I can keep up the trend!

A Nun in the Closet! That’s one of my favorites. I hope you liked it.

Happy birthday to Robin and an early happy anniversary to your and Mr. Bookwyrm! That was a sweet thing for him to do with the roses.

Indeed I did! It was a re-read, but it’s been decades since I read it and I’d forgotten a lot. Thank you for the birthday wishes – I’ll pass them along! and for the anniversary wishes, too. Mr. Bookwyrm is a very special guy; I’m blessed to share my life with him.

Happy birthday to Robin and happy anniversary to you! What a lot of fun things this week and I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic get away in a bit. I love what he did with the roses. Very sweet. That Sherryl Woods is tempting me and I’m really dying to do a Dorothy Gilman reread. I haven’t read her since college but I always enjoyed her books. If I remember correctly I liked her stand alones better than the Mrs. Pollifax. And Laura Lee Guhrke! I love her! Have a great week!

He’s a keeper, for sure! I’m blessed to love and be loved by such a wonderful man. Robin’s actual birthday is next week, but we’ll already be in Arizona getting her settled into the house she’s sharing with her friends. There will just be the three of us to celebrate then, so we celebrated with this side of the family yesterday.

I love Mrs. Pollifax and the standalones – well, most of them, anyway. A Nun in the Closet is great fun – I’d forgotten how much. And I’ve only read one or two Guhrke books, but they were very good, so I’m looking forward to reading more!

I’d have invited you if you were here! 🙂 It has been a good week, other than Mr. Bookwyrm not being here. But I’d better get back to the indexing!

Thank you, Iza! the flowers are gorgeous; you should see them. (The SD card reader on my computer is broken, so I can’t post a photo.) But I’m really looking forward to seeing him on Tuesday!
