Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The meme was originally the brainchild of The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Books I Hope Santa Brings.
Books I Hope To Find Under the Tree (2025 edition)

I didn’t actually ask for very many books this year. We are trying to downsize, so I didn’t want to wish for a lot of physical books
- The Once and Future Queen (Paula Lafferty)
- The Silmarillion (J. R. R. Tolkien, read by Andy Serkis) – audiobook
- Slayers of Old (Jim C. Hines)
- The Thursday Murder Club (Richard Osman)
- Bookworm: A Memoir of Childhood Reading (Lucy Mangan)
- The Attenbury Emeralds (Dorothy Sayers and Jill Paton Walsh)
- The Last Scholar (Dorothy Sayers and Jill Paton Walsh)
- The Library Game (Gigi Pandian)
- The Tailor of Gloucester (Beatrix Potter) (preferably a facsimile of the first edition)
Several of these are older books that I have read, but want my own copy. For instance, somehow I never owned a copy of The Tailor of Gloucester, despite the fact that it’s one of my favorite Beatrix Potter books. Some are books I want to read, but the library doesn’t have a copy, or the hold list is ridiculously long. (I’m looking at you, Thursday Murder Club.) And I just fell in love with the cover and stenciled edges of The Once and Future Queen… plus, it sounds intriguing, and I’m a big fan of Arthurian retellings, so hopefully it will be a keeper.

I hope you get and enjoy these! I’ve enjoyed all of Andy Serkis’ other narrations of the Tolkien books so fingers crossed that this one will be good too!

I need to reread Thursday Murder Club. I didn’t love it the first time I read it but I suspect a good part of that was mood. I like the Gigi Pandian series and that was a good one. The Dorothy Sayers/Jill Paton Walsh book looks interesting. I hope you had a good Christmas haul!
