November 15, 2020 Sunday Post 6

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

I started my Christmas shopping this week. I’m doing it early and all online, because of the pandemic. I figure that shipping will be slower than usual because so many people will be shopping online. I think we are all in for a very rough winter. Please do everything you can to protect yourself, your family, and everyone in your community—especially health care workers.

I have some Christmas projects to finish making in the next week or two. Then I need to clear the kitchen/dining table of my projects so we have somewhere to eat our Thanksgiving dinner! We will be celebrating it alone, but that’s nothing new; it has been just the two of us on Thanksgiving since Robin went off to college 7 years ago. We enjoy cooking together without worrying about a schedule—we just eat whenever everything is done!

Yesterday, we had a belated birthday party with my family, via Zoom. It was the first weekend everyone was free and had no conflicting virtual events or work projects or classes. Of course we talked about the pandemic, because one does. But we also talked about TV shows (I’m told I should watch The Queen’s Gambit); our new car; home remodeling and redecorating (my sister’s family just redid my niece’s room, including laminate flooring, doing all the work themselves); my new “position” (I’ve been elected VP of my local Spinners & Weavers Guild); computer issues (several people had had them recently); and we told jokes and watched funny videos over the shared screen, and generally had a great time.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished rereading Julia Quinn’s The Duke and I for the Bridgertons group read on Instagram, then reread The Viscount Who Loved Me, which is one of my two favorites in the series. Today, I hope to start An Offer from a Gentleman. (I’m a little behind; I should be reading book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.) I am also reading Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert (ARC.)

Listening: I started The Windsor Knot, a mystery by S. J. Bennett featuring Queen Elizabeth as the amateur detective. And I have been listening to podcasts, mostly Harry Potter and the Sacred Text and Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, with a smattering of The Allusionist.

Watching: We finished our Harry Potter rewatch and returned to watching Warehouse 13.

Added to the Hoard

Will you look at all these amazing goodies?! I hardly know which one to read first!

I know; I love those books! Amazon and other online sellers are going to do banner business this year. I’m going to try to support indie bookstores and businesses as much as I can, though.

Before I say anything else – please watch Queen’s Gambit!!!! The acting, the storyline, the era and the subject matter are all truly riveting. It’s a series, but I promise you won’t want to get up once you start it. Get your popcorn ready, girl!(lol)It’s been #1 on Netflix for quite some time. I’d love to send you a Christmas card, so if you’re interested, shoot me an email at [email protected]. I started working on a few of mine this past weekend. Good for you that you started working on gifts early. I agree and think many more people will be shopping online this year. Thanksgiving will be different for so many people, but like you, I’m perfect okay with dinner for 1 or 2. Sure makes cleanup a lot easier too(lol) Most of my family is pretty much scattered across the country. Extravagant Death,The Art in the Blood and The Worst Best Man look like good ones for me to check out, and I thank you for the recommendations. So glad the car is continuing to work for you, and a great choice. A HUGE Congratulations on your promotion to VP! Hope you have an awesome week! Hugs, RO
