Summary: August was a decent month for me, reading-wise. I completed a total of 18 books, including 8 first-time reads (3 of them ARCs) and 10 rereads. I reviewed 5 of the books I finished this month, although one of the reviews won’t post until later. 5 of the books I reread in August were books I had reviewed in previous years.
Challenges
Here’s the breakdown of my reading challenges this year so far:
- Goodreads Challenge: 127/140. I am 36 books ahead of schedule! (The total doesn’t count books I read for my job.)
- Audiobook challenge: Listened to 17/12; reviewed 5/12
- COYER Out to Lunch challenge: Read 82/25; reviewed 19/25
- Ilona Andrews series read-along: Read 6; reviewed 2 so far. (I decided to skip the rest of the Edge books and started on the Innkeeper Chronicles in May. I’m caught up on reading the Innkeeper books, but still need to write some of the the reviews.)
- Library Love Challenge: Read 16/12; reviewed 6/12
- NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge: Read 16/25; reviewed 7/25 (Reviews includes 2 books read prior to 2025, so I still have 2 ARCs from January, 1 from March, 1 from April, 1, 2 from May, 2 from June, 1 from July, and 1 from August to review. I wrote a review for the third ARC from August, but it is scheduled for later in the year.)
- Robin’s Recs: Read 3/6; reviewed 1/6.

Other Goals and Resolutions
Writing: None at all. Sigh.
Prioritizing reading and writing time over screen time: This varied. On the whole, I’m still spending more time on my devices than I would like.
Review more of the books I read: This went a lot better this month. I wrote 5 reviews, 4 of which have already posted. The fifth is schedule for closer to the book’s publication date.
Unpack and reorganize my book collection: Um… welp.
Catalog my books: I need to get back to this. At least I catalogued the two physical books I bought this month. Physical Books catalogued so far this year: 133 (a few of which I will probably prune from the collection.)

18 books read might be a “decent” month of reading for you, but to me it sounds awesome! Congrats on getting a bunch of reviews written, too. Those are often harder than the actual reading.

Most of the rereads went pretty quickly. And yes, I definitely find writing reviews harder than reading.
