Summary: June was a challenging month for me. I was working flat out the first few days of the month, followed by a week of a family wedding and reunion (fun but exhausting), followed by getting sick within days of arriving home. I was sick for a week, and hadn’t really bounced back by the end of the month; I am still pretty tired. Between everything I had going on, I didn’t have the energy for new-to-me books, so I ended up binge-rereading Celia Lake’s Albion books through the entire month (I actually started that reread back in May.) Being sick gave me a lot of time for reading, and because it was all rereading, I flew through the books pretty quickly. (Also, some were novellas or novella-length collections of extra scenes.) That let me catch up a bit from the first two weeks of the month, when I didn’t read much at all. I did manage to read one ARC at the beginning of June, and another at the end.
I completed a total of 21 books in June, including 2 ARCs, 3 first-time reads, and 18 rereads. I reviewed X of the books I read this month. Unfortunately, I didn’t write or post a single review.
Challenges
Here’s the breakdown of my reading challenges this year so far:
- Goodreads Challenge: 87/140. I am 18 books ahead of schedule!
- Audiobook challenge: Listened to 13/12; reviewed 3/12
- COYER Out to Lunch challenge: Read 75/25; reviewed 15/25
- Ilona Andrews series read-along: Read 4; reviewed 1 so far. (I decided to skip the rest of the Edge books for now, and started on the Innkeeper Chronicles in May; I’m caught up on reading those, but need to write the reviews.)
- Library Love Challenge: Read 12/12; reviewed 4/12
- NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge: Read 12/25; reviewed 6/25 (Reviews includes 2 books read prior to 2025, so I still have 6 ARCs from January through May plus the 2 from June to review.)
- Robin’s Recs: Read 2/6; reviewed 0/6. (I’m 3/4 of the way through one audiobook and halfway through another, so hopefully I can catch up soon.)

Other Goals and Resolutions
Writing: Days I wrote: 0 . Number of words written: 0. Sigh.
Prioritizing reading and writing time over screen time: Yeah, I did really, really badly on this one.
Review more of the books I read: Total fail.
Unpack and reorganize my book collection: I didn’t get any of this done, because of being out of town half the month, sick for a week, and exhausted since then.
Catalog my books: See above.

June was a blur for you with so much and then dropped focus with being sick. I hope you are feeling much stronger. I hope you are enjoying the Innkeeper stories. They are not too long and very fun for me. And now Murderbot coming up next week which is also shorter and very fun. Stay cool!

It was a bit of a blur. I couldn’t believe the month disappeared so quickly! And yes, I’m enjoying the Innkeeper books very much. I thought about doing the Murderbot read-along, but I find that I often struggle with read-alongs because I’m a mood reader. I can keep up with one, but probably not two.

I’m sorry you weren’t feeling well for so much of June, but hey! That’s a lot of reading you got done in the meantime. I hope you’re feeling better now, though. Being sick is no fun.

Thank you, Nicole! I’m still regaining my energy, but definitely feeling better than I did even a few days ago.
