The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
Last Week
In real life: Can you believe it’s March already? The weather has been crazy, ranging from normal (for February) to unseasonably warm. Our crocuses bloomed in mid-February and are no longer flowering; that’s weeks earlier than they should have bloomed. Our daffodils have fat buds on them and will probably bloom this week.
Writing accountability: My writing goal for March is 10,000 words, or about 350 words of fiction per day. Word count so far this month: 0. As of yesterday, I am 1440 words behind schedule.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished rereading Partners In Crime (Agatha Christie) and Pastiche (Celia Lake); the former counted for #ReadChristie2023 and the latter toward the Love & Libraries readathon. I went on to reread Carry On, The Fossil Door, Winter’s Charms, and Forged in Combat (a novella), alll by Celia Lake, plus an extra that goes with her series: Three Tales of Gabe and Rathna. I am currently reading Unraveling by Peggy Orenstein and The Raven Thief by Gigi Pandian.
Listening to: I finished up the appendices at the end of The Return of the King last night. I’m also listening to Season 4 of the Writing Excuses podcast.
Playing: Wordle, the NYT Spelling Bee, Sudoku, Carcassone (app), and Pokemon Go. I play them occasionally, not every day.
Watching: I finished Season 1 of A Discovery of Witches and started Season 2. Mr. Bookwyrm and I finished Season 1 of The Brokenwood Mysteries and are continuing to Season 2. We’re also watching All Creatures Great and Small (Season 3) and Star Trek: Picard (Season 3.) And we’re watching Wakanda Forever; we saw the first half last night and should finish it tonight.

Thanks for joining the chat. I’m really looking forward to Hexed. I am enjoying all the flowers blooming even if it’s a bit early.

That’s a lot of pending reviews! 🙂 I still haven’t decided if I’ll listen to the appendices when I get to that point in Return of the King. I usually skip them when reading the books in print.

I’ve got The Raven Thief coming up on my reading list and am looking forward to it. I liked the first one but thought the setup bogged down the pace. Hoping that won’t be a problem with this second book! Our daffodils have come and gone thanks to some unseasonably warm days and a bad storm. I have hopes the tulips will last a little longer when they appear. Have a great week!
