The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: Last Sunday was the read-along chat for Sweep of the Blade. It’s the first one I have made since February, and I really enjoyed the conversation. Monday I drove nearly an hour to the DMV to apply for my Real ID, only to realize I had left the folder with my documents at home. (facepalm) I have a new appointment scheduled for tomorrow. Yesterday, I attended the funeral for a woman I knew (not well, but as a friendly acquaintance) for the past 25 years or so. She and her husband sang in the adult community choir that I sang in for many years.
Mr. Bookwyrm will be away on a business trip this coming week. I plan to focus on cleaning, writing, crafting, and also cataloguing & pruning my books.
5 Good Things:
- The beastly hot weather has broken temporarily, and we’ll be in the 70s and low 80s this weekend and most of the coming week. That’s really unusual for August!
- I’m currently index-free, so I’ll have time to focus on more creative (or at least, differently creative) pursuits in the coming week.
- I’m enjoying weaving my first woven scarf/shawl/whatever.
- I wrote and posted two reviews this week.
- I bought tickets to go visit both sets of my parents in September.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping (Sangu Mandanna; ARC), and loved it. I read and reviewed Inventive Weaving on a Little Loom by Syne Mitchell—very useful for a beginning weaver! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday post had me remembering some doorstopper fantasies I have read, so I reread The Redemption of Althalus by David & Leigh Eddings (last read and reviewed 8 years ago, in 2017.) And I’m almost done with The Secret Christmas Library (Jenny Colgan; ARC), which is charming.
Listening to: The Regency Years: During Which Jane Austen Writes, Napoleon Fights, Byron Makes Love, and Britain Becomes Modern by Robert Morrison, for writing research. It’s so useful that I ordered a used hardcover so I can bookmark pages and make notes.
I’m also listening to Vanishing Fleece: Adventures in American Wool by Clara Parkes. It’s really interesting—at least if you’re into sheep, wool, and yarn!
Watching: We finished Wild Wild East, a nature series about Canada’s eastern seaboard. I finally went back to finish Season 2 of A Discovery of Witches, and started Season 3. I also watched a NOVA documentary on the collapse of the Frances Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. (I grew up in Maryland, so that disaster felt rather close to home. ) And we watched a Brokenwood episode (S11 E4.)
Playing: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT.) Wingspan, both online with Robin and solo. Occasionally Clues by Sam.

That’s great the weather has finally broke in your area. I missed the read-along chat this month. This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me is on my TBR and I’ve pre-ordered it. Can’t wait to read your thoughts. Looks like you had a nice selection of books this past week you got read. Great job!

Thanks for joining us – love to have you with the Read-along. The cooler temps are great, but it’s still humid. I wish I had the energy to do my existing crafts and still would also love to learn about weaving.

Oh how frustrating about the Real ID appointment! I’ve been waiting for things to calm down a bit before I get mine since I don’t go on base or fly all that much. I can always use my passport until then even though that’s a bit more inconvenient. Soon though I’m going to actually get it done. The Jenny Colgan book is coming up on my TBR and I’m looking forward to it. I hope you’re having a wonderful week!
