The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: I’m in Utah with my dad and stepmom. My dad has not been doing well mentally since a fall in the first week of September; I didn’t realize how bad it was until I got here on Tuesday. The doctor believes it is concussion. (A scan ruled out a stroke.) It’s not clear whether he will improve with time, nor how much, which is worrisome on a number of levels. I’m glad I’m here and able to at least help with driving, grocery shopping, cooking, and other tasks, all of which has kept me pretty busy. It’s been pretty stressful emotionally. I worry about what will happen once I leave, but hopefully they will be all right with the help they already have, plus home health nurse visits.
One of my local cousins is out of town but another cousin is coming for lunch on Tuesday. On Wednesday (assuming things seem more-or-less under control here), I plan to fly to NM for a week with my mom & stepdad. I will see Robin and my sister and her family too, of course! But during this visit, Robin has to work, and I want to spend more time with my parents, so I’ll stay at their house instead of at Robin’s.
5 Good Things:
- The author of a book I indexed recently sent me a copy of his book, with a lovely inscription thanking me for my work.
- My flight was uneventful.
- I am able to be here to help my dad and stepmom, at least for a little while.
- One of my favorite indie authors, Celia Lake, published the first book in a new trilogy on Friday.
- My library hold for The Enchanted Greenhouse came in.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I started Murder at Somerset House (Andrea Penrose; ARC.) Given my current anxiety levels, I set it down in favor of a familiar favorite, the Dragon Heart Legacy trilogy by Nora Roberts; so far I have reread The Awakening and started The Becoming. I also started Claiming the Tower, the first in a new Albion trilogy by Celia Lake, because I can usually count on her books to be comfort reads.
Listening to: All the Queen’s Men by SJ Bennett (still.)
Watching: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 5; several PBS cooking shows, and a bunch of Colorado Rockies games. (Baseball is not my first choice, but my dad and stepmom are fans.)
Playing: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT.) Wingspan, both online with Robin and solo. Pokemon Go, while out and about.

I’m currently reading Murder at Somerset House, should finish today. You are really caught in the middle with 2 sets of parents to help and support. It’s great your travel went smoothly.

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. How scary but I will hope for improvement. Yay for The Enchanted Greenhouse. I’m really looking forward to reading that one. I loved the first book. I hope you have a wonderful week and get some rest.
