The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: It has been another frustrating week at times, but we made progress on getting Dad’s affairs in better order and setting things up so I have the authority to step in when necessary. Thank God for Mr. Bookwyrm, who has been keeping me sane through all of this paperwork, and has also kept us fed (very well!)
Good Things:
- My dad turned 96 this week! I’m so thankful to have all four of my parents still living.
- I’m so incredibly grateful to have Mr. Bookwyrm here with me.
- Mr. Bookwyrm and I went out to lunch while my folks got their hair cut. It was warm enough (mid-60s) to sit outside and enjoy the unseasonably warm weather. Hard to believe that less than two weeks ago, a series of storms dropped 2-3 feet of snow in the mountains here!
- Both dad and stepmom were tired yesterday, so we had a slow, restful day.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished rereading Pastiche by Celia Lake (reviewed in 2024.) I continued reading Witches of Dubious Origin (Jenn McKinlay), and started rereading The Fossil Door, also by Lake, about the son of the couple from Pastiche.
Listening to: nothing currently; my circumstances haven’t been conducive to audiobooks.
Watching: an occasional news show or game show, mostly in the background because my dad and stepmom had them on. They also like to watch Are You Being Served? (1972-1985), a British sitcom now in reruns on their PBS station, so I have seen bits of several episodes of that show as well.
Playing: An occasional game of Wingspan (phone app), a tiny bit of Pokémon Go. And when I could find the time, I squeezed in the occasional game of Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, or Sudoku.

Your good things are really GREAT things. It’s wonderful you can be there and have this time with them even if it is frustrating and also the support of Mr. Bookwyrm.

It’s funny, but some of the stereotypes haven’t aged well.

So great you’re making progress and getting things setup. Happy birthday to your father! I’ve noticed when I’m really stressed my reading either skyrockets or bottoms out. It never stays the same and it’s one or the other. I’m looking forward to reading the Jenn McKinlay book. I’ve enjoyed her standalones so far. Have a great week!
