The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: The contractors were here Monday and Tuesday, replacing light fixtures, ceiling fans, and more light switches and plugs; putting in a new faucet; planting some bushes; putting up smoke detectors; and doing some other odd jobs. We’re nearing the end of the contractor journey (I hope.) Once we get the kitchen/dining room packed up, they still need to paint that room, install our new appliances, and finish up some electrical work in there, and plant some trees out back. We may also need to get the driveway patched and sealed (using a driveway company), and have the usual septic and HVAC inspections, but that should be it. (Fingers crossed.)
Meanwhile, I am making slow but steady progress on cataloging the books and encasing the dust jackets in archival plastic sleeves. I continue to prune some books as I go, though fewer at this point than earlier in the process. And we have started to pack up the kitchen and dining room, beginning with the stuff we don’t use very often. This weekend and this week, I have been/will be concentrating more on the china and other breakables, and less on books. I also need to scan my favorite recipes so I can pack up the cookbooks.
3 Good Things:
- I attended my last board meeting for my national professional association. I have enjoyed it, and I’m grateful that I had the opportunity to serve in this way, but my term is up, and my life will be too chaotic for the next year or two for me to take on any additional responsibilities.
- We’re making progress on packing up china and breakables.
- The weather was beautiful most of this past week, with temperatures in the 60s and low 70s.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished rereading Lost and Found by Jayne Ann Krentz (reviewed in 2016.) I started Stay For a Spell (Amy Coombe; ARC.) This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me (Ilona Andrews) has been on hiatus this week (on both Kindle and audiobook.) Not because it’s not good—it’s excellent!—but because it demands more of my attention than I can give right now. I need something soothing to read at night, and something familiar to listen to whilst packing during the day, so it doesn’t matter if I miss something while focusing on the packing.
Listening to: I finished Into the West by Mercedes Lackey and started the third book in the trilogy, Valdemar. I have read them once before, but this is the first time through in audio format. (As I said above, This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me was on hiatus this week.)
Watching: The Brokenwood Mysteries, Season 12, Episode 5; The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert.

Ten Years Ago I Was Reading…
I saw this idea on Lisa Loves Literature, who got it from Musings of a Bookish Kitty (who I also follow.) I published this review 10 years ago, on May 16, 2016.

I recently grabbed This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me from the library!

You are certainly busy and doing a much better job than I with all the sorting / throwing. I need to get on the photo stuff again as I haven’t done much in the last 10 years really. Pretty soon I will forget more than I knew about trips and people.

This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me is on my TBR pile. Congratulations on the packing you’ve done so far and I’m impressed with your very organised approach. Hope this coming week isn’t too trying.
