The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

I often also participate in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: I totally forgot a medical appointment Monday, but was able to reschedule for Tuesday. The contractors were here on Wednesday and Thursday; they painted the kitchen (which looks so much better!), replaced the kitchen light fixtures, and did a little more work in our basement. They’ll be back today to pick up a few furniture pieces which they are selling for us on commission.
We continue to pack up the house. I packed up my spinning fiber, which filled 4 boxes even after a little pruning. Mr. Bookwyrm packed up the sound system and worked on the garage, and I packed the Halloween decorations and a few of my other craft supplies. I’ll work on the yarn and the sewing supplies this week (pruning as I go), and then start packing the books.
We had a little excitement last night when the oven overheated significantly, singeing our dinner and nearly catching fire. The smoke set off the fire alarm. Luckily, Mr. Bookwyrm was right there, so disaster was averted It’s not the first stove we have had die on us this way; the last one really did try to burn down the house. It’s probably a broken sensor or malfunctioning temperature control. We could try to get it fixed, but since the stove is at least 8 years old and we’re selling the house soon, we figure the universe is telling us to just get a new one.
3 Good Things:
- We went out to dinner Wednesday, after an unplanned but necessary trip to Lowe’s. The weather was clear and relatively cool, so we sat outside. It was a lovely break from all the house stuff.
- My colonoscopy results were clear, so I don’t need another for 10 years. Yay!
- I’m feeling more optimistic about getting the house on the market in 4-6 weeks. There’s still a lot to do, but we are making progress.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I read Heather Fawcett’s new short story, “A Labyrinth of Honeybees”. I’m still reading Murder on Threadneedle Street (ARC), the next book in Andrea Penrose’s Wrexford and Sloane historical mystery series, and The Faraway Inn by Sarah Beth Durst. But most of my reading has been audiobooks, while I work on other things (like packing up the house.)
Listening to: I finished After Glow (Harmony #2) by Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz), and went on to the third book, Ghost Hunter. I borrowed both from Hoopla in the new Tantor Media audio editions. (I did read my Kindle editions for a chapter or two when I was awake in the middle of the night, but mostly I listened to the audiobooks.) After that, I listened to an older Brilliance Audio edition of book 4 in the series, Silver Master, which I own. When I finished that, I borrowed the next book, Dark Light, from Hoopla (again in the Tantor edition) and finished it last night.
Watching: several episodes of All Creatures Great and Small, season 6.

Ten Years Ago I Was Reading…
I saw this idea on Lisa Loves Literature, who got it from Musings of a Bookish Kitty (whom I also follow.) I published this review 10 years ago this week, between July 20 and July 26, 2016.

Sarah @ Sarah's Book Solace
Sounds like you’ve been really busy. I hate moving and do not envy your packing, but I hope things go smoothly… and nothing gets set on fire! Wow, looks like Nora Robert’s Sanctuary got a new cover. Reminds me I need to re-read…

I hadn’t realized until I was adding Sanctuary to my Goodreads list that it was written in 1997. They do periodically update Nora’s covers, and it makes it a little tough to know at a glance where the book falls in her career. I haven’t read it before, so it’s good to know that you like it enough to reread it. Thank you for the good wishes, and for stopping by!
Kat - Forever Book Lover
I’m so glad your colonoscopy results were clear! And Sea of Charms sounds absolutely delightful—I love cozy fantasies with found family, heart, and a touch of romance, so you’ve definitely moved this series higher on my TBR. Happy Reading!

I agree with you, a new oven is probably the best thing to do.
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
I love Sarah Beth Durst! I still need to read Sea of Charms but I did read the short story The Wednesday Witches Book Club. I am hoping she writes a full length book in that world.
Lark_Bookwyrm
I haven’t read the short story yet, but it’s on my TBR for this week!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I’d say you ae making incredible progress. What happened to the appliances I had which lasted 30 years? Sigh.

Appliances don’t last like they used to, do they? That’s why I’m hanging onto the Montgomery Ward sewing machine from the ’70s that I inherited from my mother-in-law. It’s mostly metal and much more durable than modern sewing machines.

Good luck with your house sale! How exciting. I hope you are having a wonderful week.☕︎
