The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
I had a pretty quiet week overall. My husband was on travel, so there was no one home but me. We had gorgeous weather almost all week, which did a lot to keep my spirits up, and I got in a fair bit of reading. I’m also trying to catch up on reviews, but I find I can only write one or two a day before I burn out, which is frustrating.
And I finally made it to knit group at the yarn store in town, which was fun! I’ll definitely be going back. I haven’t been doing enough knitting recently, and I miss it.
The past two weeks on the blog:
- Mon. 3/31: Ebooks vs. print books, revisited (my response to a recent piece by Alice Carey on the HuffPost blog)
- Tues 4/01: My Top Ten Gateway Books/Authors
- Tues 4/01: Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge – Wrap-up
- Fri 4/04: A Snicker of Magic, by Natalie Lloyd (5-star review)
- Sat. 4/05: News & Notes – 4/04/14: Book-related April Fool’s on the internet; Liberty sells B&N stocks; Authors Guild more open to self-published authors; new trend in YA covers; Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts will be trilogy, not single movie; and 8 whole minutes of David Tennant reading Shakespeare sonnets!
The coming week:
- Mon. 4/07/14: “The Yarn Spinner” by Deborah Smith (short story review)
- Fri. 4/11/14: BLOG TOUR: A Roux of Revenge – Guest Post, Review, and Giveaway (Soup Lovers Mysteries #2; Connie Archer)
- Sat. 4/12/14: News & Notes – 4/12/14
- OTHER REVIEWS & POSTS TBD

Look at those cheerful covers for next week’s books, nice 🙂
I hope you enjoyed your quiet time, it’s good to have once in a while. I hear you on the review writing; I get burned out after a couple and have to take a break.

Oh, I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Greg
I probably couldn’t write more than two reviews a day either- although my problem lately has been reading time. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up a little bit. I should get Freak of Nature- after all free! A roux of Revenge looks like a nice cosy…
Have a great weekend and week ahead.

I enjoyed A Roux of Revenge, so I hope you’ll stop by for the review/tour. Have a good week, and I hope you find more time to read!

Love the cover for Freak of Nature, will have to check this one out 🙂
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
It’s been floating around for a bit, but when it was offered free, I figured I’d give it a try!

Good to hear that you had a good week. I hope you enjoy your new books – I’ve heard great things about Freak of Nature – and that you have a fab week.
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
I’ve heard good things about it too! Have a great week; I’ll be by in a day or so to see how yours went! (I’m still catching up on comments.)

Oh yes, I’ve loved the weather lately. I’m glad you were able to enjoy it! I got Freak of Nature this week too! I wasn’t sure about picking it up, but then I just went for it. Hope you have a great week! I need to check out your Gateway post. 🙂 I missed TTT this past week.

That was about my response: the book sounded interesting, but I wasn’t sure. When it was offered free, I figured, why not? 🙂
Have a great week! I’ll try to stop by your TTT this week, even though I’m not sure I’m doing one this week. I haven’t come up with many “unique” books I’ve read. Though I suppose “unique” is in the eye of the beholder.

Freak of Nature sounds really intriguing! I haven’t read a sci-fi book for a long time but I think this book could be one of the many once again. 🙂 Happy reading and have a lovely Sunday!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Wow, everyone seems really intrigued with Freak of Nature! I hope you enjoy it! Have a good week, and thank you for stopping by.
Catherine @ Book Club Librarian
Nice new books, Lark! Happy reading and knitting!

I really need to make more time for knitting… somehow! I don’t know, maybe I need to be two people. Have a great week, Catherine, and thanks for stopping by.

I have Freak of Nature too – I’m a little bit hesitant because I’m not big fan of this author, but we will see.
New GFC and Bloglovin’ follower.
Glass @ Ja čitam, a ti?
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Thanks for the follow, Glass! And pleased to “meet” you. I’ll be happy to return the favor. As for Freak of Nature, I’m a little hesitant too, but I’ve heard good things about the book.

No Mark Upon her has me curious, but I just told myself no new books this week. Ha..let’s see how long I last. I swear I will never get to all the books I one-click and order!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Oh, I KNOW I’ll never get to all my Kindle and ePub books! But No Mark Upon Her is one of Deborah Crombie’s Kincaid and James series. I love the series, but I’m behind, so I’ve been snapping them up whenever they go on sale. Those I definitely WILL read, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Herding Cats - Burning Soup
Yay for knit group! I’m not a knitter myself but really enjoy getting together with other crafters now and again and enjoying a night of creating things together. Glad you were able to find a good group!
And I hear ya on the reviews. That’s all I’m able to get done at once too.
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
I love knitting; it’s the one craft I’ve really stuck with. Although I also do some bead jewelry and some sewing when the mood strikes me.

I always enjoy your Saturday News and Notes posts! The Yarn Spinner has such a gorgeous cover. I wish I could knit, but nope, all thumbs 🙂 A Roux of Revenge sounds like a fun read. Will have to check out more about it.
I wrote a bunch of short reviews this week, but I can’t always keep this pace because then it becomes more work than hobby and it loses its appeal. I have decided to not fully review every single book I read, but to at least give a rating and maybe one or two sentences about my thoughts.
Have a great week!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Thanks, Rita! I’m glad you enjoy those. Mini-reviews – that’s a good idea. It might help me catch up! And sometimes I just can’t come up with that much to say about a book. Better a short review than none at all.
Yvonne
It sounds like many of us are trying to catch up on reviews. Your list of books looks great. Enjoy!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
I suppose catching up on reviews is akin to spring cleaning — just of the space between my ears (and my NetGalley “awaiting feedback” list) instead of my house or my walls. Have a good week, Yvonne, and good luck with your reviews!

I used to knit a lot, my favourites are socks which looks so complicated but actually is really easy to knit with 4 small needles with self-patterning yarn. But I mainly read now and often don’t have the energy for knitting, reading is easier 🙂 Have a great week and Happy Reading.
My Sunday Post is here
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
I love knitting socks; I’m on my sixth pair. Since the first pair (on DPNs), I usually use the 2-circulars method, though, because I find it easier to control the needles. My daughter ‘Robin’ prefers DPNs. Since starting blogging, I don’t have as much time for knitting.
Kimberly @ Turning the Pages
I’m trying to catch up on some reviews too, I see you got a couple books that you got that I wouldn’t mind reading. Have a great week!
Thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post!

I’m sorry it took me so long to reply! I’ve been having trouble keeping up with comments in the last few weeks, but hopefully I can catch up this week.
