Summary: I read or listened to 15 books in September, including 1 first-time reads (The Book Hunter) and 14 rereads. I posted 3 reviews of books I read earlier in 2026: Murder at the Grand Alpine Hotel, Seven Types of People You Find in Bookshops, and Twig’s Traveling Tomes.
Of the books I reread in September, 3 were books I had already reviewed on the blog in previous years. (See bolded titles in lists above)
Challenges
Here’s the breakdown of my reading challenges this year so far:
- Goodreads Challenge: 106/125. I am 13 books ahead of schedule. (It helps that a lot of this month’s books were YA audiobooks that I had read before and could listen to whilst working on the house or driving to appointments.)
- Audiobook challenge: Listened to 44/15; reviewed 5/15, with one more review scheduled.
- COYER Out to Lunch Again challenge: Read 86/20; reviewed 14/20. (My personal challenge includes actually writing the review.)
- Library Love Challenge: Read 24/12; reviewed 3/12.
- NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge: Read 19/10; reviewed 7/10.
- Robin’s Recs: Read 1/6; reviewed 0/6.

Other Goals and Resolutions
Prune and pack my book collection: At this point, most of the pruning is done, although I did collect another boxful to sell or donate. I figure I have sold or donated at least 1000 books, probably more. I still need to evaluate some 40-50 books that I indexed over my 32-year career. But at this point, I am primarily focused on packing them up. (see below.)
Catalog my books: We have been focused on other areas of the house this month. I hope to return to cataloging and adding dust jacket covers in October, after the house goes on sale. But right now, our priority is getting the house ready for showing. After that, the priority will be packing up whatever is left for storage and moving. So it’s likely that some of my books won’t get catalogued until I unpack them sometime next year. Physical books catalogued so far (since I started in 2025): 1094 print books, up 29 books since last month. I figure I have another 300-500 to catalog, some of which were never unpacked after we had the floors done two years ago. I also catalogued 44 audiobooks or courses that we own physical copies of. (There are more physical audiobooks, but Mr. Bookwyrm packed most of them before I had a chance to catalog them. What I catalogued were mostly the Great Courses.)

You’re really doing great work.

It has been so long since I’ve read the Alanna books, but I loved them when I was young. How is the narrator for the audiobooks?

The narrator is Trini Alvarado (Meg in the 1994 Little Women), and she does a pretty good job. A couple of the names aren’t the pronunciations I would have used, but on the whole, I was very happy with her narration.
