Summary: I completed a total of 26 books (and novella-length collections of extra scenes) in May. 2 of these were ARCs, 3 were first-time reads, and 13 were rereads. I posted no reviews, and I had not previously reviewed any of the books I reread in May.
Challenges
Here’s the breakdown of my reading challenges this year so far:
- Goodreads Challenge: 67/140. I am several books ahead of schedule!
- Audiobook challenge: Listened to 12/12; reviewed 3/12
- COYER Out to Lunch challenge: Read 54/25; reviewed 15/25
- Ilona Andrews series read-along: Read 2; reviewed 0. (I decided to skip the rest of the Edge books for now, and started on the Innkeeper Chronicles in May.)
- Library Love Challenge: Read 11/12; reviewed 4/12
- NetGalley & Edelweiss Challenge: Read 10/25; reviewed 6/25 (Reviews includes 2 books read prior to 2025, so I still have 2 ARCs from January, 1 from March, and 1 from April to review, plus the two from May.)
- Robin’s Recs: Read 2/6; reviewed 0/6. I haven’t been prioritizing this challenge the way I wanted to.(I’m partway through two audiobooks, both currently hibernating; hopefully I can catch up soon.)

Other Goals and Resolutions
Writing: None. Sigh.
Prioritizing reading and writing time over screen time: Meh. Since I was visiting Robin and my family in NM, I did prioritize family time over either reading or screen time, though.
Review more of the books I read: This too did not go well; I didn’t write a single review.
Unpack and reorganize my book collection: This was occurring alongside cataloging my books, so it’s limited to the pace at which I can catalog them. I was out of town for most of the month, so nothing got done on this front.
Catalog my books: Again, I was out of town, so I really didn’t make any progress.

And now you haven’t been feeling well so don’t be too hard on yourself. I hope you feel better soon. We’ve been loving the Innkeeper books.

Great job being ahead of schedule! I’m so….not! I’m looking for some good audio books right now and I’m listening to the Emperor of Maladies, which has been quite difficult.

It sounds like you’re doing well on your challenges! Your plan to spend less screen time is a good one, and I need to do some of that, too. I’ve been using mobile games to procrastinate more than I had been. Here’s to a good second half of the year!

I think family time wins over reading time so that doesn’t count since you’ve had so many visits lately. I read the two Jayne Castle books and enjoyed them both. I think I’m going to pick up the first book in the Harmony series in July.

The Harmony/Ghost Hunters books are a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy them.
