March 24, 2024 Sunday Post 13

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.

The Past Week

In real life: I actually managed to do a little one-handed cooking this week, although I had to rely on Mr. Bookwyrm for anything that required cutting or chopping. Other than that, it was a fairly uneventful week.

On the blog: I was finally able to get help figuring out what was keeping the Backlist Review Challenge review linky page from posting. The page and the linky are now live, so if you have reviews from January 1 through now, go ahead and post them. I finally got around to putting up my personal 2024 Reading Challenges page, too. Working on those took a good part of Monday. Tuesday I wrote a review.

Looking Ahead

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst (ARC). I also finished The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street by Helene Hanff. Then I read Flash by Jayne Ann Krentz (It’s technically a reread, because I’m fairly sure I read the paperback over a decade ago, probably more like 15 years. But since I had forgotten everything about it in the intervening years, it counts for The Backlist Reader Challenge.) After that, I reread The Language of Bees and The God of the Hive (both by Laurie R. King) to continue my Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes series reread.

Listening to: The Writing Excuses podcast (season 9), and The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd.

Playing: Not a lot I managed to do a few of the NYT word games (Wordle, Connections, and the Spelling Bee.) And I did a few remote raids with Robin on Pokémon Go.

Watching: Brokenwood Season 8, and All Creatures Great And Small Season 4.

I haven’t gotten that far into the audiobook yet, because until I get my wrist/thumb brace off, I can’t knit, spin, drive, or even do much housework. So all my usual “listen to an audiobook” activities are pretty much out for now. If I don’t get out of the brace in early April, I may switch over to reading the Kindlebook instead.

Storybook Ending looks good and I loved her previous book. Glad you were able to get some stuff done. I know it gets frustrating being one handed but hopefully you don’t have too much longer. Have a great week!
