The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: The poison ivy rash continued to get worse over the previous weekend (developing in the same areas, not new outbreaks.) Apparently that’s typical for a first-time reaction; the rash develops slowly. I stayed pretty quiet this week, except for an appointment with my new GP (for the poison ivy) and a routine appointment with my rheumatologist midweek. Thankfully, by late in the week, the itch and rash were finally starting to ease.
I finished weaving my first scarf (but still need to tie the fringe and wet-finish it), finished my knit-along shawl/scarf (but still need to block it), started knitting a new pair of socks, and did some spinning. On Saturday, I went to my monthly spinners and weavers guild meeting, which was also our annual yard sale.
5 Good Things:
- I am heading to Utah this week to see my dad and stepmom.
- The itch is now down to bearable levels (even if it’s not gone.)
- I finished my shawl and started a pair of socks.
- I’m getting better at spindling (spinning on a drop spindle.)
- At the guild meeting sale, I got a new drop spindle, several shuttles and a tapestry beater for weaving, and a few ounces of pretty fiber to spin.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished Untouchable (reviewed 2018), then reread the Fogg Lake trilogy by Jayne Ann Krentz: The Vanishing (reviewed 2020), All the Colors of Night, and Lightning In a Mirror. After that, I reread Deep Waters, a standalone.
Listening to: I also have the hardcover so I can bookmark pages and make notes. I finished The Windsor Knot and started All the Queen’s Men by SJ Bennett; I have read both before. I need to get back to The Regency Years: During Which Jane Austen Writes, Napoleon Fights, Byron Makes Love, and Britain Becomes Modern by Robert Morrison; it’s for writing research.
Watching: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 5, and a nature documentary series called Wild Rockies.
Playing: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT.) Wingspan, both online with Robin and solo. Pokemon Go, while out and about.

You really accomplished a lot with your fiber arts this week. I have things I need to do but was behind on the blog and home tasks. Now I’m on track so maybe I can fit in some while it rains a couple days this week. Have a safe and lovely time with your family trip!

All of your new books look delightful! I’m glad the itching has gotten better!

We were told in our naturalist group that coming into contact with poison ivy does not automatically cause a reaction; washing clothes and taking a bath quickly after contact is what we were told to do. Not sure if that is true for everyone…
Hope you have a great time in Utah!

Thank you! I’m looking forward to the trip.
Unfortunately, I didn’t know I had come in contact with the oil from poison ivy (or poison sumac; they both have urushiol), because it was secondary contact from my husband’s towels. I washed my hands, but apparently not until after I had touched my leg (which then transferred the oil to the other leg), so while my hands are fine, I did get the rash on my legs.

I’m glad the discomfort from the Poison Ivy is fading.
Have a lovely family trip!
Wishing you a wonderful reading week

So glad the poison ivy rash is getting better. So far I don’t seem to be allergic but I don’t test it as it looks incredibly unpleasant. It looks like you had the perfect reading to distract you though! Have a wonderful trip to Utah and have a great week!

I had never had it before, either. And I hope I never get it again! Yes, it’s most unpleasant. Binge-rereading Jayne Ann Krentz at least kept my mind off the itching and burning.

Have fun in Utah! I’m glad you’re less itchy.

I’m glad the poison ivy rash is getting better! I’ve never had it, but it sounds miserable.
