The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: Monday, we left the house at 4:00 am(!!!) to take Robin to the airport (a 2-hour drive.) I came home and promptly went back to bed for a few hours. I didn’t get much done the rest of the day! The rest of the week I dealt with financial/banking stuff and online order returns, updated my calendars and planner, decorated for Halloween, went for my mammogram (clear, as usual), and took care of the usual household tasks. Halloween was great; we had more trick-or-treaters than usual because it was Friday, and it was so much fun to see the kids (and parents) dressed up in their costumes. We had a lot of teens come by as well; I was glad to see them enjoying being kids for a little while.
Saturday, we attended the work picnic for Mr. Bookwyrm’s job before rushing home so I could attend a Lost & Found Magic, a vitual (Zoom) conversation with Olivia Waite, Leslye Penelope, C. L. Polk, Jessie Mihalik, Eva Leigh, Kit Rocha, and Stephanie Burgis, around the theme of characters who lose or gain magic/power. It was a fascinating discussion, interesting to me both as a reader and an aspiring writer. My TBR list has grown considerably, and I’m feeling fired up to write again. (And bless the person in the chat who said to me, when I used the term aspiring writer about myself, “Lark, if you write, you are a writer.” It’s a reminder I needed, both to keep writing, and to believe that I can do it.)
My stepmom has MRSA in a wound on her leg. I would appreciate any prayers and/or healing energy you could send her way, if that’s something you feel comfortable with.
5 Good Things:
- For my birthday, Mr. Bookwyrm ordered me two of my most anticipated books of the year, coming out in November: Brigands & Breadknives (Travis Baldree) and The Seven Rings (Nora Roberts.) They are something to look forward to in the midst of all the chaos and uncertainty of the current time. And Robin gave me two books I’m eager to read, Briggs’s Dictionary of Fairies: Banshees, Boggarts & Other Folklore Creatures and Best Hex Ever. (I forgot to add this last week, but they are still making me happy!)
- I love decorating for Halloween, and enjoying all the trick-or-treaters who come to our door.
- At the picnic, we connected with Mr. Bookwyrm’s former team lead, now retired. He & his wife (whom we also know) are about our age, and we like them both. We’re going to try to get together socially occasionally.
- The author conversation I attended was wonderful in so many ways, from the topics discussed to the book recommendations to the writing advice. And also, just to see the faces behind the names I’ve read (or plan to), and get a sense of who they are.
- I really love fall! The brightly-colored leaves, the cooler temperatures (break out the handknits!), fall treats like pumpkin bread, Halloween, and looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas are all highlights of the season for me.

Ten Years Ago I Was Reading…
I saw this idea on Lisa Loves Literature, who got it from Musings of a Bookish Kitty (who I also follow.) I thought I would give it a try! These are the reviews I published 10 years ago (in 2015) between October 27 and November 2.

Prayers and healing vibes for your stepmother. That’s a scary and uncomfortable diagnosis. I used to go crazy with the Halloween decorating but in the last few years I’ve gotten away from it. I should reembrace it. It’s such fun. I would have definitely gone back to bed after taking Robin to the airport. 4AM is in the middle of the night. I hope you have a wonderful week.
Anne - Books of My Heart

Ugh, that sounds like a really early Monday morning! Hopefully Robin didn’t have too many issues at the airport.
Those sound like some great books! I’m also looking forward to Brigands and Breadknives. Also, Murder By Magic intrigues me! I’m off to see if it’s still on sale.
