The Past Week
In real life: I spent half of Friday in the ER, but I’m fine: it was just palpitations, almost certainly nothing to worry about. I’m supposed to follow up with my cardiologist. Other than that, it was another week of working on the house. We continued packing up fragile things; we’re almost done with that. We scheduled the final work on the house for the end of July. Time to pack up everything and put it in storage so we can put the house on the market in August.
3 Good Things:
- I’m keeping after Dad’s long-term-care insurance company to try to get some coverage for his care, and it looks like they have finally requested his medical records.
- The next audiobook in the series I’m listening to is no longer available to buy new or at any library I have access to, but I was able to find a used CD copy on Amazon. I bought it, and it should get here in about a week (give or take a few days.)
- We had the house plumbing checked over, and there are no looming problems.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished Mary Balogh’s A Waltz to Remember (ARC), which comes out in October. I started another ARC, The Oxford Guide to Scandal and Lies (Kate Westbury), the first book in a new historical mystery series set in post-WWII Oxford. So far it’s really good.
Listening to: I finished Fired Up, book #7 in the Arcane Society series by Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz, and started book 8, Burning Lamp.
Watching: We finished our rewatch of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 7. We also watched The American Southwest (a PBS documentary on the Colorado River), and the first episode of Once Upon a Time in Space (a 4-part documentary series, also on PBS.)

Kindle: SALE: The Book Witch; Wench; Hang the Moon; Of Owls and Oolong (this last one was an impulse buy at 99 cents because the story sounded cute, and Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer enjoyed the first two books. The cover looks a little too AI for my comfort, but the indie author has been publishing for about 10 years, so hopefully the story is human-written.)

You ae doing so much. I keep thinking about how close you live to me now really and that it’s sad I haven’t met you in person before you move far away. But since COVID I haven’t made an effort to meet people while on the road. It makes me sad though. I hope you have some time to just relax this week with much more ahead to do.
