The Past Week
In real life: I worked on packing up more craft supplies. The fabric is completely packed (it only took up 2/3 of a box; the rest is tablecloths.) Most of my weaving thread/yarn is packed; there isn’t that much of it, so it fit in a small moving box. I packed one medium moving box full of yarn, and a second box is almost full. I should be able to get the remaining yarn into a small moving box, except for some skeins I’m setting aside to knit between now and whenever we move into our as-yet-undiscovered) new house. So that will be a lot of the craft stuff taken care of, other than the actual equipment and the sewing supplies. I plan to keep both spinning wheels out of storage as long as I can, but I will need to pack up the rigid heddle loom, the sewing machine, and the serger (overlock machine) and put them in storage.
5 Good Things:
- Our new stove was delivered Monday, so we can cook again!
- My preorder of Brave Truth arrived on my Kindle on Friday. It’s a MM romance from one of my favorite authors, featuring a character from Illusion of a Boar (which I reviewed earlier this year.) I’m looking forward to diving in!
- I really loved the Sarah Beth Durst book I read this week; it was so lovely and comforting.
- One of the guys who works for our contractor bought our old china cabinet. He picked it up yesterday.
- I made out like a bandit at Audible’s site-wide sale on Friday.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished The Faraway Inn by Sarah Beth Durst, which I loved. I definitely recommend it! After that, I started Brave Truth by Celia Lake, which came out on Friday. I’m also still reading Murder on Threadneedle Street (ARC), the newest book in Andrea Penrose’s Wrexford and Sloane historical mystery series.
Listening to: I listened to Obsidian Prey (Harmony #6) by Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz), which I borrowed from Hoopla. After that, I listened to Midnight Crystal (Harmony #7) by the same author. I bought a used CD copy of that one a few weeks ago, because Tantor hasn’t released the new audio edition yet, and the original Brilliance Audio edition is not available digitally or on CD at my library. Unfortunately, the next two or three books in the series are similarly unavailable, and I haven’t yet tracked down any affordable used copies. So I borrowed ADHD for Smart Ass Women to listen to until I have read the next few books in the Harmony series on my Kindle.
Watching: We watched the third episode of Once Upon a Time in Space (a 4-part documentary series on PBS). The series is really good; if you’re into space and the history of space exploration, you should check it out. We also watched Kingsman, and an episode of Aerial Britain. We’re holding off on the final episode of All Creatures Great and Small, season 6. It’s a Christmas episode, and I want to save it for some night when I really need something comforting.

Audiobooks: Audible had a big site-wide sale. I picked up 11 books for under $38.00: Break In; Bolt; Clean Sweep; Sweep in Peace; One Fell Sweep; Sweep of the Blade; Sweep with Me; Sweep of the Heart; Storm Warning; William Shakespeare: Comedies, Histories, and Tragedies; Shakespeare: The Word and the Action. Most of them are books I have read or listened before (except the two Great Courses), but I’m pretty sure I will want to listen to them (again, in the case of the Innkeeper Chronicles.)
