Sunday Post – 6/26/16

June 26, 2016 Sunday Post 10

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures – I mean books!

My Week

Still. Indexing. That’s about all I can say about my work week… Except that one index is finished, turned in, and approved, and the others I’m working on. I’ve got a lot to do in the next two weeks, which is why so many of next week’s posts are labeled “tentative.”

On the personal side, yesterday we attended the 50th anniversary celebration of our friends J and B. They’ve been in our lives for over 20 years, and it was a joy to be with them to celebrate such a special occasion. J is my long-time choral director and mentor as well as friend; she taught Robin violin for 11 or 12 years, directed the children’s and youth choruses that I now direct, and mentored me through learning to direct before turning those groups over to me about 6 years ago. In her 70s, she still directs the community chorus I sing in, and I still look to her as a mentor. She’s an amazing musician, but more than that, she’s able to share her love of music with others, inspiring and teaching us all. And B is stalwart, always supportive and encouraging, not only toward J but to everyone he comes in contact with. We’re blessed to have them in our lives.

Today is Mr. Bookwyrm’s birthday! Robin and I plan to take him out for a movie and dinner this afternoon, so I probably won’t be replying to comments or visiting much until later in the week (as time permits.) He is a wonderful, loving, supportive husband and father, and amazingly patient with my book addiction and all the time I spend blogging. I’m a lucky woman!

What I’m Reading/Watching

It’s been a pretty bad week for reading. I finished Secret Star (Nora Roberts; purchased.) I read Nobody But You (Jill Shalvis; library), which was all right, and now I’m working on her Sweet Little Lies (ARC), which I like better. I think I’m getting kind of sated on contemporary romance for the time being, though. I’d like to read more historical romance and a lot more fantasy and mystery than I have been. This coming week, I need to read several books, including Chasing Lady Amelia (Maya Rodale; #AvonAddicts ARC) and a cozy mystery, Read to Death (Terri Farley Moran; ARC.)

My audio listening is on hold due to all the indexing. When I get back to it, I’ll still be working on Great World Religions: Islam and Bill Bryson’s Made in America — . And I’m still watching Avatar: The Last Airbender; I managed about 2 episodes this week.

Thank you to Avon and Harlequin HQN!

Besides these, I picked up 4 books in Stephanie Laurens’ Bastion Club series, all of which I’ve read before but wanted for Kindle.

Have a wonderful week, and happy reading!

Wow, you do sound very busy. I hope you get your indexing projects done so you can take a little break. 🙂 I listened to Sweet Little Lies which was my first by Jill Shalvis and I liked it even though I don’t really read a lot of Contemporary romances. (I read listened to two CR back to back so I am done with that genre for a while…lol)

Hope you get some reading time and have a great time at the movies celebrating your husbands birthday!

You have been busy! Wow 50 years! That is awesome, I totally wish them the best. It’s great to have friends like that. 20 years is a long time.

Happy Birthday to your husband, I hope he has an amazing day! Husbands can be amazing and they do put up with a lot when it comes to our reading addiction and blogging. 😉

Have a great week, Lark! Happy Reading! ox

I’m happy for your friends, and that you have good friends like that in your life 🙂 My parents were married for 56 years before they both passed, 3 months apart. I’ve been married 29 years, so I can appreciate the hard work that goes into keeping a relationship going!

Happy birthday to Mr. Bookwyrm and enjoy the day with him. Movie and dinner sounds like fun. I know you have to work hard this week, but try to find time to stop and smell the roses. (the Thayne and Krentz books look good to me).
