My Favorite Books of 2019

December 31, 2019 Top Ten Tuesday 17

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The meme was originally the brainchild of The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is My Favorite Books I Read in 2019.

As usual, I had a hard time keeping it down to ten! These are not in any particular order, except that the first six in each category (first-time reads or rereads) are ranked a little higher than the second six in the same category.

A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorites. (I have a lot of favorites!) If you listen to the audiobook, try to get the one that is NOT read by Madeleine L’Engle. The other narrator is better.

    Hallo, Hallo,…

I am so thankful you’ve posted your Top Reads for 2019! I’ve revealled which #newtomeauthors were my favourites for the year today however for my overall favourite reads those are forthcoming in a separate post whilst I contemplate my End of the Year Survey. 🙂 My Top Favourites today do include a section about Speculative Fiction & Fantasy…as well as copious amounts of #booklove for Romance!

I wonder if we share any authors / series in common?

Happily the stories / authors from your list I’d love to read myself are the following:

I am focusing on Dragon Fiction during our 3rd Wyrd and Wonder (May, annually celebrating Fantasy) an event I co-host with Lisa & Imyril – which is why the Marie Brennan series is always at the top of my list of dragon stories/series to be read! I am hoping my plans for this series go through well and I can blog happily about those adventures come May! I am also slated to read the Night’s Edge series by Czerneda this year, too!

    * The Vanishing Man, Mary Balough and Beverley Jenkins are on my TBR too. I have a Jenkins ARC I am overdue reading via LT and I heard good things about the first novel.

I’d LOVE to get back into Laurie R. King’s Mary Russell series, too. That would be a combo re-read (for the first novel) and a series starting to kick-off on the other hand! Same would be wicked for the Lady Emily series by Tasha Alexander or even the Aunt Dimity series!

I used to love reading Dick Francis.. gosh, its been an age!

And, the only Lackey novel I ever finished was “The Fairy Godmother”!

Plus, I had no idea you had a #dragonfiction list on your blog? How did I miss that!? I am going to be using this as my main resource for Wyrd And Wonder this year and crediting you with helping me out with the search for stories of dragons I can rally behind!! So thank you!

Lovely being back on your blog… I hope you had a wicked lovely New Year’s Eve and will be bookishly happy throughout 2020! Here’s to new stories, new series and new adventures throughout the coming year – may you have a wonderful beginning to 2020! Thanks for continuing to inspire me and my #nextreads!

PS: On my previous comment via the RWA I added a word that was a bit out of place at the end of my comment… it should have read “share them here”.. the ‘with’ was a mistake you can remove.

Lovely to hear from you, Jorie! I’m glad you’ve discovered the dragon books masterlist. (Please bear in mind that it is far from exhaustive, but I’ve tried to limit it to books I’ve either read or heard good things about. I’m sure there are books that should be on it and aren’t.)

Have a lovely New Year, and a terrific 2020! I hope you get to read and/or revisit some of the books/authors you mentioned here.

I really loved The Long Way, too! It’s one I’d been eyeing for awhile, so I’m really glad I finally read it!

  3. Literary Feline

Several of your top books are on my wish list or TBR pile. It looks like I have much to look forward to! I hope you have a wonderful New Year! I hope you read many great books this year.
