My Week

It was a kind of up-and-down week. I’m still trying to catch up on everything. I went back to the doctor for my wrist and he gave me a cortisone shot, which resulted in the darn thing hurting a lot more than it was before (at least temporarily. It’s feeling almost back to its pre-shot condition now.) That’s been frustrating, because it means I can’t knit and I can’t do as much on the computer. Still, thanks to Dragon voice-recognition software, I managed to get some reviews done.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Last Sunday night, I devoured Emily March’s Heartsong Cottage in a single sitting. Since then, I’ve been reading Hunter (Mercedes Lackey) and Only a Kiss (Mary Balogh.) I also read The Nesting Place: It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect to Be Beautiful, a book on decorating your home by Myquillyn Smith, which I found very inspirational even though my style (whatever it is) is very different from hers (lots of white and painted wood.) In fact, I liked enough that I ordered a copy for myself.

In honor of the start of the Hogwarts fall term, we rewatched the first three Harry Potter movies this week… which I suppose means we’ll have to rewatch the rest of them as well! Paddington arrived from Netflix last night, so we’ll probably watch that sometime this week.

    I am sorry to hear this was an up and down week for you. I hope your wrist feels better soon! That shot you got sounds painfull and how weird it made it worse at first! I wouldn’t know what to do if I couldn’t sit behind the computer as much as I used to, that voice recognition software sure sounds handy in times like that.
    Nice haul you got this week! I hope you’ll enjoy all your new books! One Bad Apple looks good! And that christmas book has a pretty cover!

      The voice recognition software is really useful. I’ve used it occasionally for my freelance work for years. But I find it’s harder to “write” – to compose what I want to say – when I’m using it.

    So many books, hard where to start! I know you will be having some good reading fun in the coming weeks 🙂
    Sorry about your wrist– I had carpal tunnel trouble a couple of times but didn’t have surgery and, it eventually resolved itself with medicine, rest, and a splint.
    Reign of Shadows has a pretty cover, and will look into it further. Also Named of the Dragon, When a Scot Ties the Knot, and Threads of Evidence look good.

    I hope your wrist starts feeling better, Lark. I broke my wrist a few years ago so I understand some of what you’re going through. So many things you can’t do. Take care of yourself.

    The Nesting Place sounds great, Lark. I’m going to look for it. Does it have photos? Does it work okay as a Kindle book if there are photos?

      Thank you, Jan! I’m sure your broken wrist was much worse than what I was dealing with. At least I could take off the brace if I had to! The doctor actually took me off the brace Friday (Sept. 18) because it didn’t seem to be doing anything. PT is the next step. I do appreciate that he’s not jumping on the surgery bandwagon!

      I borrowed The Nesting Place from the library, then bought a hardcover, so I don’t know if it would work in Kindle or not. Kindle Fire or another tablet, possibly. Hope that helps!

    I have The Nesting Place on my library list and am really looking forward to checking it out when we’re able to really start working on redecorating. I’m sorry to hear that your wrist is hurting and I can imagine how frustrating that must be. I’m looking forward to the RaeAnn Thayne and I need to get my hands on the Emily March. I’ve enjoyed her books so far. Have a great week and hopefully you’ll be back at 100% soon!

      Thankfully my wrist is doing better, at least on the pain front, although my thumb is still numb. (Not the whole thing just part of it and just on the surface.) Yes you should definitely read the Emily March! I’m not sure it’s available from that Kelly or Edelweiss yet, though.

    Also – I’ve always meant to ask… I see the Heather Graham books on a few sites and I gather that’s not the same Heather Graham as the actress, or is it?

      Thank you, Deb!

      I had to do a little quick googling, but no, it isn’t. The writer also writes as Heather Graham Pozzessere and as Shannon Drake – which means she’s even more prolific than I realized. The actress is about 17 years younger, so they’re not the same person.

      My daughter loves her – especially the Raven Boys series and The Scorpio Races. I’ve been meaning to read her, and this duology looked like a good place to start. She’s a local author, incidentally; Robin and I got to hear her talk about writing at one of the local libraries about seven years ago.
