Audiobooks Read – January 1 through July 5, 2025

Audiobooks

Titles in bold contain links to my reviews. If the title isn’t bolded, I haven’t reviewed it yet.

  1. The Calculating Stars (Mary Robinette Kowal) – reread (2nd time in audio) (Note: I republished my original review this year, updating it to include a review of the audiobook narration.)
  2. The Fated Sky (Mary Robinette Kowal) – reread (2nd time in audio)
  3. The Relentless Moon (Mary Robinette Kowal) – reread (1st time in audio) (Note: My review was written back in July 2020; I mentioned the other two audiobooks in that review, but at that time I had only read the ARC and did not have access to the audiobook. I later bought the audiobook, and finally listened to it this year, as I prepared for the release of the fourth book in the series.)
  4. The Lost Flock: Rare Wool, Wild Isles and One Woman’s Journey to Save Scotland’s Original Sheep (Jane Cooper) – Hoopla
  5. Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent (Judi Dench and Brendan O’Hea) – Hoopla
  6. Beauty (Robin McKinley) – reread (1st time in audio); Hoopla
  7. Spindle’s End (Robin McKinley) – reread (1st time in audio); Hoopla
  8. The Blue Sword (Robin McKinley) – reread (1st time in audio); Hoopla
  9. Clean Sweep (Ilona Andrews) – reread (2nd time in audio); Hoopla
  10. Sweep in Peace (Ilona Andrews) – Hoopla
  11. The Left-Handed Booksellers of London (Garth Nix) – reread (1st time in audio); Hoopla
  12. The Sinister Booksellers of Bath (Garth Nix) – reread (1st time in audio); Hoopla
  13. One Fell Sweep (Ilona Andrews) – Hoopla

My goal was to listen to 12 audiobooks this year, putting me in the “Stenographer” category. As you can see, I have met my goal—although I’m not doing too well at writing reviews! I’ll try to catch up on reviews a bit in the second half of the year. I’m not going to bump my listening goal up yet, but I’m pleased that I’ve been listening to more audiobooks this year, even if only four of them were completely new to me. I do find that I remember books better when I read them, so listening often works best for me as rereading, rather than first-time reading.

Here’s my Goodreads list of audiobooks read, as proof that I have actually listened to them!

Currently listening: I’m currently listening to Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, and A Study in Death by Anna Lee Huber. Both are first-time reads.
