The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: I spent the first half of the week getting ready for Robin’s visit, and the second half enjoying their company.
I finally got back to pruning, cataloging, and shelving my books, many of which have been either in boxes on on shelves in the basement for the past year (since our renovations.) It has felt like an overwhelming task, mostly because I was being so pick about the cataloguing. I finally decided to stop trying to include every detail in the catalog (like condition, whether it’s a first edition, how much I paid for it, etc.) and just use the barcode or ISBN plus whatever information the CLZ* database has on file, only taking the time to fix the genre(s) and subject(s). This has speeded things up a bit, and makes it feel more manageable. I can go back later to add the details for my first editions and signed books, but at least I will have the basic list of what I own, and be able to sort by topic or genre. *I use CLZ Books, a mobile and desktop app.
5 Good Things:
- Robin is here!
- I finished a cowl that I think I’ll wear a lot this winter. It’s soft and scrunchable and warm, without being too hot. It was a fun knit, and I might buy more of the yarn to make a few more for Christmas presents.
- Robin’s visit prompted me to get some needed cleaning and reorganizing done.
- I catalogued and shelved about 69 of my nonfiction and research books, and pruned another 15 or so.
- The weather is beautiful today!

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I didn’t end up reading very much this week, both because I was busy with other things, and because I had a hard time settling down to anything. I finish reading The Keeper of Magical Things (Julie Leong; ARC), which I loved. I continued reading Exile’s Song by Marion Zimmer Bradley and Adrienne Martine-Barnes (uncredited.)
Listening to: The Spare Man, by Mary Robinette Kowal (read by the author.) This is a reread for me, but the first time in audio.
Watching: NOVA: Human (a miniseries), and Conclave, both of which were excellent.
Playing: Wingspan on my phone. And my usuals: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT), and Pokémon Go.

Ten Years Ago I Was Reading…
I saw this idea on Lisa Loves Literature, who got it from Musings of a Bookish Kitty (who I also follow.) I thought I would give it a try! These are the reviews I published 10 years ago between Oct. 13 and Oct. 19.

- The Adventuress (Tasha Alexander)
- The Art of Sinning (Sabrina Jeffries)
- Cold-Hearted Rake (Lisa Kleypas)
- Hunter (Mercedes Lackey)

Great you were able to do some organizing and feel good about that before the visit. I hope you are having a great visit!

Glad you’re getting your books unboxed and reshelved. It does sound like a big job! And I’m also glad you’re enjoying Robin’s visit. And thanks for picking up a copy of Ghosts of Grayhaven. I really appreciate your support. Blogging friends are the best! Hope you have another really good week. 😀

I have a tendency to overcomplicate things when it comes to big projects like the shelving. I’ve become a big fan of keeping things simple even if it isn’t as much fun because I can get it done and keep it organized typically. Yay for Robin being there and the cowl sounds lovely. I really enjoyed the Kleypas series and have loved the books I’ve read in the Tasha Alexander series so I think I would have liked your reading 10 years ago! Have a great week!

Sounds like you had a great week overall! Family visits can be stressful to prepare for, but I always find that I enjoy them once I stop stressing about the state of the house. 😉
CLZ Books looks like a neat app. I use LibraryThing to catalogue my books, but then I’ve been a lifetime member of their for a LONG time, so moving everything just seems like too much work.
